I have been looking for a tan door panel without any luck.I have found several blue ones.When you dye something like that does it need to be a lighter color?I've never used used the stuff so I know nothing about it.

it doesn't have to be a lighter color just make sure you prep it right and use lots of thin coats til you get the desired color.
