Anyone have any info on E-Town??? Last year this time I think I already had my hotel reserved in Vegas and was getting the only six months left jitters! It would also be nice to put in for vacation, does it still look like July 7-9?? Any info would be great, nothing like being a little prepared. Will the track be ready? Will ICCC happen again? Will those guys from GRAIL win another year??Do these pants make my but look too big?? Thankss for reading and hope to hear somethin! Dave H.

LISST is the club, and I am reasonably sure the dates are July 7-9.

Give a shout to Big Kahuna and he should be able to give you the full info....

Rumor has it that some members of the ISSCA BOD wants to move the NATs to Pocono Raceway, because the road course at ETown isn't availible.

What makes an ISSCA National an ISSCA National?

Its the combination of five events 1) Car Show 2) Drag Race 3) Auto Cross 4) Road Course and 5) Sound Off plus a bonus event Push Drags, take any one event away and you don’t have a National. The BoD is charged by the by – laws Article XI Section 1 sub a sub 1: "Provide an event location with appropriate show and racing venues", since the precedent has been set these past two years leaving out any of the five events would require that the event is NOT an ISSCA National but an ISSCA Sanctioned event. The folks who suggested E- Town knew there was no Road Course at the time of their proposal they had been lead to believe however the Road Course was going to be finished. It turns out that by the time the BoD had traveled to E-Town to check out the facilities the Road Course folks were less than encouraging about finishing the track in time. Scratch one event. Second concern is the Drag Races at all previous ISSCA events we have had full complete use of the Drag Race strip we didn’t have to share it with any other events or car clubs, the E- Town event requires ISSCA to share the track. Scratch a second event. So you see the E-Town proposal won’t suffice for an ISSCA NATIONAL event. Can you imagine the folks traveling from say Oklahoma or Texas or Utah to E-Town to find out that the National wasn’t a National (that is it was missing a Road Course and they had to share the Drag Strip), talk about pissing some people off, that would be a greater disaster than realizing [even at this late date] that the event might need to be moved.
Thus the BoD is doing there very best to find an alternative that will meet the established criteria for an ISSCA NATIONAL and with the help of the folks up in the area I’m confident they will do just that. After all that is the job of the Board of Directors of ISSCA (see Article XI of the ISSCA By-Laws).

Rick,

What version of the bylaws are you looking at? The section you are quoting doesn't exist in the on-line version of the bylaws. The only thing the online version states is “The ISSCA Nationals is the only event conducted by ISSCA and will be conducted by the ISSCA Event Committee and Board of Directors, with substantial (non-monetary) assistance from one or more local/regional chartered clubs.” It doesn’t say anything about the schedule of events.

Why was ETown even considered? A lot of the North East clubs petitioned the ISSCA BOD to host the event at ETown. LISST doesn’t seem to have any issue running a great event at ETown. As for the road course, how about substituting a high speed autocross?

Maybe, if the ISSCA board shared information with the members at large they (the BOD) wouldn’t have to speculate on what the members want. How can the BOD communitcate with the members? Well if they published the Impala SScene on a regular schedule or they could post to the goissca web site.

SOP Chapter 6 is where Rick got the above quote for definition of National event. I have access to that file but I did not see it via the ISSCA web site, (which we all know is not perfect and will be improved upon in the future).
All of the directors have access to the SOP's and I think that it was a simple mistake that they do not have links at the goissca.org site.

DonL, Etown was approved (I voted for it) but since that approval, the road couse availabliltiy have come to doom. The directors are expected to provide a good event to the members and thus that is why there is much discussion and work to look into providing a different and better venue in the NE area.

LiSSt can put on a good drag race in conjunction with GMEFI at ETown. But a national event is not just 9am to 3pm at the track with 300 other non-impala SS cars. Case in point: at the 2004 LiSSt drag day-Impala SS cup, Etown treated us much less as favorites. We were outnumbered by the Corvette Challenge cars and test-n-tune cars and the day was slow and not as enjoyable as in the past and we were not allowed to run heads up races, only brackets. It's going to be hard to make an enjoyable event for all of the members when we share the track with so many other cars. If need be, we can get buy and do it. But just like Tulsa, where we shared the track, it will not be ideal.

Karl Ellwein Region 12 director

PS: trust me guys, when I say that the BOD is sincerely trying to do what is best for the members. (Has anyone know me to lie?)

Don, Karl and others I want to apologize for not getting back to this earlier.

Karl was indeed correct it turns out I was looking at a version of the ISSCA bylaws from March 2003 that had not yet been finalized, by November 2003 when the ISSCA bylaws were approved the quoted section was moved to the SOP for that Article. With the new website we will be sure to have the latest version of the approved ISSCA bylaws posted and updated regularly.

Let me also point to yet another section of the website:
http://www.goissca.com/services.htm
III. Events

A. ISSCA Nationals
1. Convention of the membership
a. Drag races, road racing, autocross, car show, sound off, team competition,
and club competition
b. Family activities
2. Hosted by chartered clubs
3. Full support and organization by national club

This is directly from the ISSCA Benefits page of www.goissca.com; there is a bunch of other great information regarding the benefits of ISSCA for all to see. Hope you look.

We are waiting on a response from the people who are building the Road Course, we have effectively asked them to guarantee the tracks availability. We should have the word by the end of the first week in December, if they are unable to meet the criteria set out then we have an alternate location picked. As soon as we get an answer the ISSCA BoD should be able to set the date and make an announcement.

Hope this helps

I'm a half hour from E-town, so count me in for 2 cars if it's a go. BTW, for those who don't know, the beach is a half hour away and Six-Flags Great Adventure is about that or less. NYC is 1hr

Hey HighwaySS I am not an ISSCA member. Will I be at any disadvantage going to the national event at ____________(pochono or e=town pick one and insert)?

Will there be any advantage to join prior to the national event? Thanks!
