I don't know of advantages of eliminating the EGR.......you'll need to program it out of the PCM if you do.
The air pump delete is simple: it reduces the crap in the engine compartment. However, since you have a '96 I "think" you'll need to get it programmed out of the PCM....otherwise a CEL will light. Not sure.
