Does anyone know how to reach the person who was making these kits a while back? I believe his name is Tom. Found an old thread I think his screen name was Spartus but its no longer an active user account? I would like to buy one of his kits to use with the Innovative Harness and Meziere electric pump. Thanks

One can easily source a "reed-valve" on ebay that senses coolant flow through heater hose,etc... Many of us have electric pumps. Very few have installed warning lights,or felt the need to. Modern electric pumps are super-reliable in my opinion. Temp gauge/light would certainly reflect a loss of function.

1stly, the only electric H20pump I can bring myself to recommend, is Meziere's WP-118HD for Gen2 Iron LT1 V8s - not the standard, but the heavy duty version (select Heavy Duty motor option, which costs the same as the lesser motor).

2ndly, do not forget to either buy Meziere's H2opump relay kit, or use Gary's Innovative Wiring LT1 electric H20pump harness.

3rd, it should be a well-known and understood fact that GM specified excessively high fan-on temp thresholds.
Have your pcm reprogrammed so that your fans come on much sooner (the most important of the many helpful and enjoyable improvements that come with having your pcm reprogrammed).

4th, LT1 pcms [as well as many other pcms] can be reprogrammed so that the car behaves very differently above a certain coolant temp (I use 221°F / 105°C), which would hopefully help warn the driver of excessive operating temps, & possibly delay head warpage long enough for the driver to shut down before head temps exceed 239°F/115°C, regardless of which H20pump you are using.

IMHO if one feels they need some other form of "warning" other than the dash temp gauge when using a EWP....it should be a buzzer. A light, like a gauge, needs to be seen so to me has little value since there is a gauge to "see".

The post with the link showing what Tom B did to wire in a buzzer seems to have worked for him

FWIW I have had my EWP for 19 years now....and just use the temp gauge

You can buy aftermarket gauges (pillar pod mount) that have warning lights on them you can set...not sure if some also come with a buzzer.

I believe I was the first to have a warning system on their Water pump. My reasoning was as a daily drive I wanted to know early on if I was having issues with my water pump and not wait until it totally failed. Driving an hour to work one way I was paranoid about it. My original reason for an electric water pump was my water pump drive was stripped out. But that was 2 motors ago. The unit I had was a beta test unit that was normally used in Marine applications where water flow detection is imperative.

With this unit it was made out of brass or something they didn't normally use due to the heat of the water not being compatible with their normal marine system. Still have the unit on my car but the car is in storage. Not sure what I will be doing with the car yet but likely will be fully restoring it. If I reuse the low mileage block and build it into a beast I will likely reuse the Flow sensor as well as a power on indicator. I blew a fuse on mine within the first couple months I had it. Was a defective pump which was replaced but I didn't have a warning system on it and could have damaged my motor had I not noticed the over heating engine.
