Hey brotherSS. I really need an assist on info and quick.Im trying to do something very special on a budget on my '91 EX-DET work car/daily driver.I had the idea to do a NASCAR style exhaust.Ive gone to my local performance shop and they are stumped to how to configure the system and what mufflers and cats are needed.Im just getting out of a character testing 4 year situation where I lost my entire family and do to that also have had health issues that im slowly healing from.Im almost back on my feet and one of the missing puzzle pieces is getting my ride healthy enough so I have one less major worry to deal with.If I can get him running strong I can concentrate on all the other parts to go forward.I don't want to spend money twice and get a stock system first and then later do what i wanted in the first place.Once i get rollin i have plans as a designer to do some cool things with the cars. Maybe even get em into a certain well known action movie franchise(more on that later).I know I need a '94 cross member to free up the front for the dual. Will any of you please share with me how I can pull this off? The shop is giving me a special one time deal that I can afford right now so I have to act fast.All the credit is yours, Id like to have the first '91 with this layout. BTW, Long time since I did it, but here it is. TRUE 2 1/2 STAINLESS NASCAR/MADMAX style exhaust.
They all said it couldn't be done on our cars.
I have reason to believe I was the first and possibly the only to pull it off..definitely up here.

Kinda fuzzy but if the 180es and other bends aren't mandrel-bent there's potential for less than optimal flow? But intriguing nonetheless in terms of a one-off. I immediately pictured cleaner design as a muffler with both inlet / outlet on the same end though - if such a thing is even made. Can't see, but did you do flattened chambered tips like a Nascar type?

I saw a muffler that has the input and output on the same end. It would make it easy to do the side exit pipes.

I would suggest getting a custom or modified cross member for the 91. The 94-96 crossmembers are not a direct bolt up, and are a lot heavier than a tubular one from a 91-93. I welded a tapered half tube from a second crossmember to the top of the left side, then cut the bottom out to the bottom of the top of the tube, and sealed the ends of the tube. I believe the piece was about 12 inches long, and tapered from .75 inch to 1.5 inches. I notched corners of the ends and bent the last inch down to meet the top of the original tube before welding. I used scrap from the cut to seal the ends. If you are going to lower the car, you should consider making the exhaust tube oval, or relieving the floor under the seats a little (the LT1 pipe on the left is flattened along the side of the transmission for clearance).

You can get the rear muffler mount from another 91-93, and the holes are already there to mount it on the left side of the rear crossmember.

I believe C5 corvettes, and other cars may have a muffler that exits on the same end as the input. If you put the muffler at the back of the cavity, you could use a single, more gentle bend to get it to the front of the wheel opening.
