The internet is a visual medium. People look at the pictures and vote for the one that gets their attention. Flat or gloss, Rob's paint grabs your attention. Some will love it, some will hate it, but obviously enough people like it.
Heck, I didn't even know who Rob was until he posted a picture of his car. So calling it a popularity contest is a gross oversimplification.

Yeah the popularity contest comment is way off. I've been a member since 2011 and have 68 posts. Low key I be.

I've seen very popular people not win this also lots of times..
