I installed Hotckiss springs in my Fleetwood about a year ago, 6,000 miles and I guess now they are finally settled. I noticed that my tie rod sleeves have been making contact with the frame when bottoming out. I noticed this last week when I had a front end alignment done and was checking the shop's work to make sure everything was tightened down. I installed poly isolators on the top of the coils and OE rubber on the bottoms. I have the older style ZQ8 bump stops and trimmed them, there was about a 1/8" gap between them and the frame, now the frame is resting on the bump stops.
Now there is about a 1/2" gap between the tie rod sleeve and frame. Is this safe? What is the "average" space?
Back to the spring spacer question, where would I be able to purchase a spacer for the front? Where should it be installed, top or bottom of coil? How much thickness should I consider purchasing? Or am I making a big deal about nothing?
