I'm going to replace the fuel pump on my 84 corvette.
This is the in-tank fuel pump.
The two wire electrical connection on the new pump is different from the pump I now have, so I have to cut and splice in the wiring.
I plan on soldering the two wires while I have the unit out on my work bench.
My question is: is it OK to solder wires that are going to be in the gas tank?

I would assume so. You could even use but connectors. Gasoline does not conduct electricity.

EDIT: Does not conduct "well" at 12v ;)

The fuel pump replacement turned out to be a easy job.
The entire assy. came out with no problems.
I soldered the wires on the new pump, then I crimped an insulated connector over both wires.
