Hey everyone well I have began to R&R my f/p. I took one bolt off all ready on the rear strap then stop since I noticed the sending unit and the f/p dissconnect lines. the tool I do not have. Question can I di this my self, are there any special tools I need to perform this job. Car had shut off issues and the f/p wasnt priming prior to starting. Advice is always welcome thanks again.

You can get the fuel line tools at the parts store either rent or buy for probly the same cost(the plastic ones).
10mm socket for the top of the tank to get the sender out(doing this exactly right now today and saw your post) and the float faces towards the back of the tank so be sure to be careful with it.

Ok just the fuel line disconnect tool. I tried the metal one last time wasnt successful getting them off, this was for the fuel rail though. I will get the plastic ones this time. Whats the proper way of using the tool?

For me it inserts into the connector, push to connector and tool in, then pull apart. That is all I have to do. I have one line held on with a hose clamp. Also, on the wagon aleast there is one other hose from the tank to the fill area, other than the fill hose itself.

I took mine off last night. Pump is here but the sending unit was broken inside, which may have caused the pump failure.

I just replaced them in June, and am half way through with the current replacement.

I don't recommend the plastic one's. I spent 45 min. screwing with those things before I sent the Wife to HF for the metal ones ...3 minutes after she got home, lines were off.

this is holding me up, damn fuel lines. I got those plastic ones, trash! I had the metals before and still had troubles, this was when I tried to remove my fuel rails.

Question: Whats the best way to remove fuel lines. IE type of tools, tips & tricks.

BTW I thought it might have been battery & alternator. Took it to Advance and I walked out with a new battery and alternator for free, car still didnt start but I know I have a new battery and alternator.

Spray some WD 40 or something like that in the fuel line connector, Twist the lines around in your hand (Should rotate a little bit FREELY) Then, use the tool.. Put it in, Twist and pull the lines apart

Never has a single problem with the plastic fuel line disconnect Kit! Are you using the correct size tool in the kit? Autozone sells the whole kit (6-8 Piece set) for like $10-12.00. 1st, Remove your gas cap to release pressure from the tank. Then, Do as Brian said and shoot a little WD-40 Into the plastic clip/fuel line connection, let it set for a min. Then insert the proper size disconnect tool, push in on it with one hand, Then grab the fuel line and push in on it also and it should break loose from the connector, then pull the fuel line out.

I probably shouldn't tell you that I removed the tank from the rear...seemed easier to me to slide it out the back since I was working alone...took a bit of prying on the straps to get those bolt's back in ...lol.

fuel pump fuse blew. Now I can hear the f/p question should I still drop the tank and r&r the harness at least? I have the harness and the f/p.

I still dont know why it shut off on me might be the harness.

done, wasnt really hard at all. I changed the harness, which looked perfectly fine btw, fuel pump, alternator(free), battery(free)

I honestly think my battery and alternator was the problem. the shut off w/out a stumble didnt seem like the f/p also the alternator and battery both tested bad.
