Is there a mileage point when the fuel pump normally fails? Any warning signs or are you suddenly left stranded?

Sometimes there's the intermittent failure, but most of the time they just go out of the blue. Id make it apart of the 100k preventative maintenance to get it replaced if your worried.

No!!! My DCM failed at 70k an the DGGM failed ar 100k with no "fore" warning!!!

Mine failed as follows: Driving fine, Shut it off and went to drive as normal. Started, sputtered and DIED. Continued until I replaced the pump.

Here is the link to what I did: http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=231301&page=2

Replaced BOTH with an APE Walbro unit and have not had a problem since...
