Quick question since I'm getting myself all confused about gears. (This is for my 1992 Buick Roadmaster Sedan)

I believe the t56 I picked up has the .5 6th gear, so my question is this, 3.73's with the t56 (in sixth) would be like what gears paired with the automatic (when in overdrive and torque converter locked up). Same question with 4.10's.

4.10's on the t56 seem pretty close to stock 3.08's on the auto. Minimum I would run 4.10's with the T56 (I do.) Ideally if i didn't drive it daily and have plans for more torque in the futture I'd try 4.56's.

Go to this link http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html
Scrill down a bit and put in numbers, from what I see and if the roady has say 225/70/15 tires on it

t56 RPM at 75 with 3.73's would be 1715

Auto with what is listed above but 3.08's would be 1983

Most go with 4.10's or 4.56's because the sweet spot for RPM's for fuel mileage and all that nonsense is about 2,000 RPM or a little above. And it is easier on the clutch in our big cars.

My car with 4.10's 315/35/17 inch tires and a T56 runs right about 2100 @75
