What's up ladies and gents,
I'm planning on 255/45-17 for stock wheels. I want the vehicle lowered and I want the least possible space between tire and fender. I don't want the tire inside the fenderwell, about a two finger space between fender and tire.

thanks all

A shorter tire doesn't help the fender gap problem. I just went to a 275/40 (which is shorter than stock) on my stock wheels, and it looks like there is a tad more fender gap. You're going to have to lower the car via springs to get the look that you're after.

The shorter you make the tire, as Wade said, the worse the fendergap gets. Basically if you have stock SS tires which are 27 inches tall and you go to a 275/40 which is 25.7 inches tall, there is a 1.3 inch difference in tire height. Half the tire height it lost above the spindle and half below, so the frame of the car will ride .65 inches lower and there will be .65 inches more fender gap. I thought my car was sitting perfect after I lowered it, then I got my new tires and now I want to bring the front end down just a tiny bit again.

I'm sorry that I forgot to mention that the combo I was talking about was shock and spring combo. Which combination of shock and spring would lower my car about a finger or two above my tire (255/45-17)? I would also like to know who's black SS is that on the upper left hand corner of this forum? That seems to me the perfect look for my SS?

Thanks a million guys!
