I was talking with Bobby at Dallas Frame doing the walk through on my wagon frame swap. He asked me if I wanted to replace my Moog idler arm with the GM Idler arm. So I asked him why. He said that the maligned GM idler arm is a good design that some alignment guys don't know how to use. He said that they think that it is worn out, when, due to its design, it just needs to be readjusted. I do not know exactly what it looks like or does. Just repeating what he told me. But I did find it an interesting observation.

Stick with the Moog. Its ALOT beefier than the stock idler arm.

What Bobby is talking about is that the stock arm IS adjustable. And it will "spin" a lot easier than the Moog (this is normal and fine).

The arm wears out when the slop is in a different direction than spinning it though. The FSM details this.

I've seen a stock GM arm that was in an SS for 3000 (yes, 3K) miles that was already worn out beyond specs! This is checking it the way the FSM details.

In summary, get the Moog part.
