tried searching but 27" is not allowed in the size.

Lloyd said my rear tire needs to be a 27" tire. Any one know a good 27" rear tire size. I can go as wide as needed (rear is notched for 335's) but i need a good tire for a stock impala wheel.

Sad but true. Noodle around with the tire height calculators and google and you might get lucky. If you don't mind a taller tire, 275/50r17's look nasty on a stock rim (do a search.)

Ok, I couldn't resist looking up stuff. A 285/45r17 would be 27.1 inches tall, and a 325/40r17 would be 27.2 inches tall. Not enough height difference to upset the ABS.
BUT GOOD LUCK FINDING THEM!

hard to imagine putting such a big tire on my wagon. might just have to wait till i can save up and buy new rims again. i was kinda looking forward to a taller tire just to raise me that .5" off the ground and avoid some scraping.

i know those 315's wont fit the stock rim, or at least not without a lot of tire roll. gonna have to go do a search for the fattest stock tire size. if i'm gonna have to stick with a 26" tire might try and look for something fatter.

if i end up going with something that tall, i might look for something a little fatter...

I do think its really odd that they dont make a 27" tire. like tire gods said that 27 was unlucky or something.

It'd fit but look like busted arse. If you've got a notched frame, you need a widened stock rim to make the best use of it.

I guess I don't quite understand what you're looking for. The stock tire size IS 27" tall. Not much else out there.

Mickey Thompson makes a 295/45r17 drag radial. 27.5 inches tall.

sorry. i need/want a fatter rear tire with some side wall

my old 315/30/19's would spin at anything under 30 unless properly warmed up.

my 275/45/17 were just a little too short to fit what lloyd suggested.

so i guess my goal was a fatter 17 that was 27" tall

Chris,

The math for 275/45-17 is a tire that is 7.5mm shorter (OD) than the stock 255/50-17, typically advertised at 27" or 27.1"--it would be a whopping 0.295" smaller. Unfortunately, that size has never been produced, to my knowledge--I always felt it would be the "perfect" upgrade size for stock (SS) wheels.

I believe you must be talking about 275/40-17, a very common size, used on Camaro SS & Trans Am, among others--and MUCH shorter.

There really isn't anything that fits the description of what you seek in 17". You can go to different wheel size and find what you're after--275/45-18 (27.7" diameter) DOES exist, as well as 255/45-18 & 285/40-18 (both 27" diameter).
