Greetings I'm looking for some good sounding 6x9's for the rear deck (96 Caprice). Anyway I've been through some Rockfords, and Pioneer's (co-axils) both of which I hated (too tinny, not enough mid bass). What are you guys running? BTW I will be powering them with a my Kicker 100x4, If I need more power then so be it....

I had used an adapter and went w/ a 6 1/2 just like the front doors(components) since 6x9s aren't my cup of tea.

if you want something to enjoy the crisp and quality sound, and something that put smile on your face, go with INFINITY KAPA,you have to spend some money they are little expensive ,but it definitely worth the money, make sure you get the three way not two way speakers, the only problem is their impedance is 2 ohm not 4 ,like regular car speaker, and all it does take more power out of your amp,you won,t notice until you go the volume all the way ,which you really don,t have to do that ,because of the quality of the sound, but you may wanna do your own research,I know enough about electronic,so I know how I can deal with it,just read about it design, and any thing else with the same design is as good, almost!!!remember max out put is what they can do at period of the time,RMS is what they are capable of putting out continuously, which is normally half of that, so 400 watt speakers are the output of a pair divded by 2=200 max for each speaker, then divided by 2=100watt RMS that, were you get quality sound at all time,so what they say divide by 4 = quality sound of each speaker, don;t let their big # fool you, there are some cases that RMS is even less than half, that's why they usually put the max output on the box!!!! tricks of trade!!!! another thing you want to consider is sensitivity of speakers above 94db,here is the link for kapa http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=KAPPA692.7I&cat=KAP&ser=KAP&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA

IMO, remove the 6X9's and get an amplified frontstage.

IMHO, cop a set of decent to marginal 6 x 9's and the money you save put towards your front stage. Or, can the idea of rear fill.

^^^^

I agree with the above. I bought a mid range set of Pioneer 6x9 ways. They can get VERY VERY loud if needed and they sound great. I think they were like $80 or something.

Anyway Im finally taking the time to do the front of the car since the subs and horrid stock place of the front speakers makes it hard to hear well.

Not really sure what that means?????? I still want to keep my rear fill, just upgrade to a better pair of 6x9's or go with some 6 inch seperates (I've had great results with 6 inch seperates before).

Since you have an amp on them, it all depends on how you have you amp set up. Gain...Frequecy...Slope...Volume...Pre-amp...Crossover...Radio settings. Once you add amps, everything has to be in sync or you blow the speakers. That goes for any size speakers, from tweeters all the way to 32"(which is the largest I've seen). Distorstion blows(literally).

I have Pioneer TS-A6991R and TS-A1681R and it sounds great. Now my radio has a hide away brain that has two built in pre-amps, crossover, and a pretty good output. No one outside the car can really hear it, but it's perfect inside. You want people outside the car to hear you, got some subs.
