Alright Guys, I'm getting ready to buy a new fuel pump for this year to replace the tired stock unit. Instead of just going out and buying one I thought maybe we could get a GP going on one. I had contacted Racetronix directly a few months ago, and they do not do GP, however their vendors/dealers/distributors do. It just so happens Combination Motorsports is one of them. I had contacted them a couple of weeks ago, and they said they'd get back with me on a price.

So I figured I'd see what kind of interest their was in buying the kit (link below) so maybe CM will see there's interested buyers and respond quicker (Yes I know they're prolly busy with stuff). I'm not sure how much we can get off the kit, but it sounded like CM would be interested in doing a GP.

So Who's interested.

Fuel Pump and Wiring Harness from Racetronix.

Got mine installed today. What a PITA.. Well Not really, just some things a set of directions would help. I'm making some. However they maybe curde because I forgot to take pics at one point because i got pissed off.

I'll have them done in a few days...
G
I put mine in yesterday as well. It took longer to get the tank in and out than it did to get the pump in and out. Matt, were you able to reuse the factory pump retainer? I think that the foam wrap around the new pump makes it so you don't have to???
G
Norm, if the Racetronix guys were there when we were installing the PLUG & PLAY pump and harness, I would shot one of them. They obviously don't include written directions because they are too incompetent to even make sure their stuff fits properly.

I went over and helped Buffman install his kit yesterday. The new kits are MILES different from the one I installed from them 4 years ago. My older kit was plug & play and took 1/2 the time to install.

The hose crimped onto the new pump cannot be removed unless you cut the crimp. We decided to leave the hose on the new pump, and drilled out the hole on the plastic retainer for the pump housing so that the hose would fit through it. Then used a heat gun to heat up the other end of the hose so that it would fit over the port on the hose manifold.

The power connector for the pump is the WRONG ONE, and we had to swap the connectors from the OEM harness over to the NEW harness by releasing the pins that hold the wires in.

Those two steps should have some written directions so that people don't have to fiddle-**** around for an extra hour.

A copy of this reply will be emailed to the morons over there at Racetronix.

PLUG & PLAY I knew it had to be harder than that. Thanks alot for the heads up, it will be a big help, are there any other things to look out for or install hints. Once again THANKS for the heads up
G
Hopefully I will get the instructions done and they will be loads of help.

One thing to look out for, is it was a PITA to remove the sending unit from the tank. We found by popping the float arm out of it's plastic retaining clip the unit could be easily removed.
G
The instructions are done. I will look them over again when I get back from work, and I will post them in the Engine performance section.....
G
I will also contact Racetronix and ask if they have made any changes.

For the people still waiting. All of the remaining orders will be shipping out tomorrow.

Thank you

Sam

Thanks Once Again Sam for doing this GP. really saved everyone some $$$.

The Kit is really a work of art, but like everyone mentions, you can get easily lost without any kind of instructions
