recently bought a 1996 impala with 40k miles on it. grandmas car. so i wanted to just make a thread with everything im going to be doing to it. i think im going to put loud music behind and keep it stock. but, you never know.

i found a passenger headlight assembly and a nice dcm hood from a roadmaster wagon at the junkyard. however, i couldnt find any good bumpers or fenders, so i had to call a full service yard to check what they had. found a guy who had a decent condition bumper, fender, wheel well, bumper support and bumper support shock so i picked that up.

took all the bad pieces off and put all the good pieces on...

Cool project and LOW miles! I like it :)
Aside from the rf corner damage and drivers seat, it looks really nice. Can't wait to see what plans you have for it.
looks like it'll make a nice car, you have yourself 2 clean B-bodys
Clean low mile car! That looks mostly cosmetic and it's half way fixed already! Some paint and it'll be a sweet ride! I'd keep it stock, or at least try to. It does only have 40K miles!
what about drivers seat problems were you talkin about?

and as if right now I need tires first then comes paint. figured id just let the body man take care of making it look right.

besides paint and few interior things, I dont do too many mods. rims and music is about all I ever do. im definitely adding alarm and a k&n intake, and maybe exhaust. still don't know if I want to swap all my music over. head unit, amps, speakers etc.
just a few interior things I need to do that are bothering me. center console lid is one of them. also door pulls and caps need to be matching. speaker grills are yellowing... top dash is ugly. misc stuff
you sir have 2 nice Bbodies.
first off thanks to those keeping track and posting in here. second off a big thanks goes out to LS1 MM6 (Gary) for the great deal on great shape OEM 96 ss carpet and again to kevin from NJ for the oem floor mats. finally decided to tackle this project and here are my results.

heres the nasty stained and bleached carpet that needed to go

heres the new carpet sitting in the sun like ive read you're supposed to do and a comparison shot

took some blue magic stain & spot lifter to some parts that needed some attention

getting it fitted in

then continued to work on fitment and did a quick cleaning on the seats / pillars / sills / misc stuff and also the floor mats and after all was said and done this is the end result

the only problem with the carpet is the small spot by the drivers left foot, the rest is camera trickery. is there any fix to that problem spot of wear? i was thinking about making some type of heel plate? they're so damn convenient
also found another killer deal. got an OEM SS BBB hood and grille off craigslist locally for $100 in great shape. been sitting in storage since 1998. i called dibs for pickup the next day and the guy said he got like 6 phone calls after i called dibs.
looks good ! what did u clean with ?
I hit the tough spots with blue magics stain and spot lifter. a most of it came right up like no problem but overall both the carpet and floor mats were in good shape. I mostly just grab something at autozone in the cleaning section, usually one of those tall cans with the scrub brushes on top

I use that same stuff to clean my carpets. I agree, overall it does a pretty good job :)
Looks good man sorry I missed it when we met up the other day
ya it figures man. its been parked for about 3-4 months here with the exception of about 3 days and you stopped by on one of those 3. once its done id like to stop by and check out all your cars
you may steam the old carpet and re dye it. you could prob sell it.
