Hey Gang,

Has Anyone ever used the same ground point for two amps? What are the Pro's and Con's? The ground point I had in mind is the back seat bolt located in the right hand side of the trunk just behind the hinge.

A grounding distribution block of the correct size(usually handles 8 ga. wire) will do the trick, allowing you to run only one 4 ga. to the ground point on the chassis. A better chassis ground is the rear seatbelt attachment point, which is under the seat. A nice big stud to attach the lug to.

It doesn't really matter how you connect the 2 grounds to the same point as long as you do it! If you don't you might encounter ground loop noise. Remember to keep the ground wires as short as possible and connected tightly to the ground point. Also make sure it is nice and clean!

Should every piece of equipment, including the head unit, be at a common ground ?? That'd make for a long ground off the h/u...

Yes. Not required but generally a good idea to reduce the chance of creating a ground loop. And yes, you do the same thing for negative as you do for positive. For example, in my car I ran 2 gauge + and - to the trunk from the battery. Then in the trunk, I made a common ground for the entire system. So every component in my system is grounded to that point including the stereo. Keep in mind that with amplifiers that you are amplifying any noise in the system, so it becomes more important. I hope that helps.
