It sounds like you are mostly in the rust monster Midwest, but out in Arizona and SoCal hitches from the 70s look pretty much like new. Our sedans can use hitches going back to 1977 Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Cadillacs and they all work just fine. Last one I bought at a U pull it yard it was $35 and I could reuse the hardware. But it’s been a few years so maybe they’re $45 now? Anyway, back in the day there were a lot of different hitch makers for big sedans because SUVs didn’t really exist for towing, certainly not like today. You can often see several different styles in just one U pull it yard.

Lucky you. Hitches at LKQ here are almost universally rotted.

Fortunately, there is a sizeable population in the Midwest and northeast that likes to tow, especially to places like the South and Southwest.

Do we know if they are actually in stock? Last time I checked, none of the bolt-in hitches for this platform could be purchased new. @Caddyshack95 had to have a hitch made from scratch.

Many sites list things, but then you place an order and find out they don't physically have it.
Not to quote an old post but you’re right.

Found tons of websites that list the hitches as “available” only to call and say they haven’t had a class iii like that in years.

Had a custom one welded up here in town… hasn’t let me down yet.

I am in for a class II hitch. I have one from U-Haul that I use to attach a basket for my race rubber. I always worried about the tongue weight on that hitch as 4 tires and the basket weigh in the neighborhood of 250lbs just hanging out back.

I've officially got a shop working on these hitches.

Assuming cost works out, I should have anywhere between 3 and 12 of these hitches to start off.

These hitches will be very similar to the discontinued Draw-Tite, although with two key differences:

1. High-quality US steel, no China crap (details to come as far as metal specs)
2. Fully galvanized for LONG service life

Pricing, etc. coming soon!
