I've got a set, too, but I can't afford tires.

If i can ever sell my 20/22's, I'll use the money to buy some 18 inch tires. Trade anyone?

I'm running 285 40 18's all around. They are Pirelli Assimetricos, which are designed to run in the front and rear, or just the rear, with Pirelli Direzonales in the front.

I have a brand new pair of Pirelli 245 45 ZR18 PZero Direzionales.

How do you think the Direzonales will look, size wise on these rims?

I chose that size because they are almost the exact same diameter:

Assimetrico's are 285 40 ZR18's and are 26.98" tall.

Direzionale;s are 245 45 ZR18's and are 26.68" tall.

What do you guys think?

Should I run them, for the "Big 'n Littles" look?

Stewart

Do it Stew ! Just imagine that hunk of rubber hanging out over the lip. Makes me salivate, errr, maybe that's the black'n tan I'm sipping on

I actually have the pirelli pzero rosso assimetrico 245/45-19's on the caddy. Good tire, imo, but I am far from an expert.

Edit: I should add they have nice road manners. I had to be very alert driving the 255 potenzas on the caddy, it followed road ruts, which drove me crazy on the long trips. Once I went 245 pirellis the car tracked really straight and took no more than a finger on the wheel to keep it straight.

Personally I think the potenzas on the impy rims have better hydroplane characteristics. That's why I'm choosin' the Toyo Proxes T1R's for the OZ rims. Nice rain groove.

But the Pirelli's are good'n sticky. they bark nice when I hustle into 2nd w the CPT trans.

Edit: oh jeez. I just reread, I see you know allabout the pirellis. <gilda radner voice> Nevermind </gilda radner voice>

New to the forum...found Stewart's car (what a beauty) a couple months ago fishing for info on B-bodies; followed the trail to this forum (don't have much time for computers/internet). Since joining, ordered a set of the OZ's and they should arrive on the 21st.. Was wondering what you all thought of 255/50-18 tires for size? These are virtually the same diameter as the stock 235/70-15's. Will the added width cause clearance problems? I don't like the "little tire" in the well look. Very thankful for all the great info you owners provide.

1996 Roadmaster Sedan, 102k
1996 RMS Limited, 56K (OZ worthy!)
1994 9C1 Caprice, ?K
1993 Roadmaster wagon, 190K...all are drivers w/ handling and/or tow package

Should be perfect! according to the http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
You should be dead on if you're trying to keep the height the same. Most of us seem to be going just a little shorter than stock (around 27 inches.) The width is no problem @ all!

If anyone is interested I have a set of these OZs that I'm not going to use now.

They are NOT drilled to fit 5x127 (5x5) yet. (currently 5x135 and 5x139)

They are brand new in the OZ boxes. I'll probably regret it later but figured someone here might want a set? I don't think there are any more available anywhere now that this GP picked up the last of them and they have been discontinued for some time. I have $400 into the set so that's what I want for them. You pay actual shipping costs. PM or email me if interested. I can't wait to see all your pics w/these wheels on your cars, that phat lip is just tuff!

Thanks Firewood for answering my questions and most of all for all the hard work and long hours you put into getting these done for everyone!

Summitumo's have been talked about badly in the wheel & tire section. No grip. They are cheap, ok for a cruiser, but not for a bruiser. That said, given that my car is sloooow, I may get em!

Kurt,

This isn't a complaint, just an observation, I just opened my boxes today and I LOVE the Wheels, I just don't have the Lugnuts or Hubrings in any of the boxes.
I Obviously see there was an isssue you made note of, but it's new to me.

I'm Not in any particular hurry to get them mounted right now as these are spares looking for a home with no shoes right now.

So just drop me a line and LMK when and where.

Thanks Again for doing this BTW. :D

Elias, I loved your black FW with the chrome Impy's, and because I salivated so much when I looked at it, I went that route with my wagon. The next set you had on there, I didn't like so much. The OZ wheels, first I've seen on a FW, do have the right look of CLASS and SPORT in the same wheel, those are a home run for you so maybe you will settle down on wheels for a while ;) . Stewart's car paved the way with these & I LOVE that DCM WB4 wagon above, that is also a class machine.
