Well, every good thing has to come to an end I guess... This is the end of the road for the twin turbo Caprice.

I took the whole powertrain and TT kit out of the car and will be returning it back to stock.

All the TT parts are available if anyone is interested, as they will not fit in my RX7.

I replied to your PM.

Here's what I have available:

- US made headers and down pipes, Garrett 60-1 T4 turbos with 0.82 AR T3 turbines, Tial 38mm WG.
- Intercooler with piping and brackets, Tial 50mm BOV, misc couplers and clamps.
- FAST classic EFI system, set up for LT1, will work with stock opti and coil or LTCC (the LTCC system is also for sale)

BTW I also have a nice naturally aspirated stroker for sale, traps 120+ mph in my RX7. Less than 3000 miles on it since the build, no cheap parts in there. :)

A lot of nice hardware, but because I like my AC and ABS, twin turbo is not the way I want to go. If I didn't have that LT4, I'd be very interested in 385 stroker with LE2 heads. Awaiting response for your LTCC setup.

Sent you an email for the LTCC stuff.

The turbo kit clears the AC compressor and the ABS. My IC piping might not clear the ABS because I took it off before I made the piping but it can be made to fit. :)

I dont think so... if it was cracked at a main stud or in that area then yes I'd say I was at the blocks limit.

IMO this was caused by somethin else, like an over-torqued head stud maybe or it just be a "freak" failure.

I'm fixing it up and trying again with a bigger turbo, better heads/intake and a custom cam.... in a 3000 lbs car :D

A couple buddies have blocks around here, but thanks anyways. :)

The machinist says he rather fix it than change blocks. He says he'll use a timesert and a Darton sleeve and it should be plenty strong.

I don't know... I don't really have a whp goal but I'm guessing between 800 and 1000 whp.

What I want for the RX7 is to be driveable, a REAL street car that can be driven anywhere. I want it to run on pump fuel (and water/meth injection), drive 1h to the track, adjust tire pressure, run an 8 second pass at 150+ mph and drive it back home.

I know it won't happen the first few times out and lots of work will be needed to achieve this goal, but with everything I've learned with the Caprice I'm sure I can do it.

BTW both the Caprice and the RX7 are home built cars, the only thing I get done at a shop is the alignment. :p

Been busy and not one here so just saw this. Not really a shock other than it's a steel block as they don't fail as quick. It's the heat on any of these blocks that lead to that so I don't care what you're using it's going to happen if you run it under full boost long enough. The heat takes the hardness out of the metal so enough heat cycles and it's going to fail unless maybe you have a billet block with 2" long head stud threads.

I would get a fresh block as I bet it happenes again if you use the same block unless that cylinder is hotter than the rest.

You should have no issue running an 8 if you only have 3000 pounds and 1000 HP. Less weight and making less HP to move the less weight all add up to less problems. I don;t see a problem in you achieving your goal.

Sorry that happened to your block.
