i recently posted about the dlr problems i had. replaced the module and that was fixed.
now the headlights (both right and left) are not working. the parking lights and tail light are working.
i can not get the headlights to come on with the switch or with the dlr module.
fuse in the driver's side panel is good.
where is a good place to look next?
thanks for all suggestions

I would look at the wiring diagram in the FSM. The FSM is designed to assist you in troubleshooting the electrical system. Get your Ohm meter, or Volt meter out and start checking for faults. Anything any of us would state is just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess).

Try the :halfway point" technique: That is check for proper operation of something at a point half way between source and item.

In this case that would be what GM calls the dimmer switch and most of us call the high/low(beam) switch. Dipping switch in the UK.

Auto part Electrical wiring Cable Wire Machine

A stock b body will have one yellow wire. The yellow wire should have power when either the headlight switch is on or the twilight sentinel is active.

If you find power on the yellow check for power at the tan(low beam) and the light green(high beam).

No power at the yellow wire? Time to check the headlight switch. First unplug that dimmer switch and the twilight sentinel

Automotive tire Bicycle part Motor vehicle Engineering Electrical wiring

If your tail lights work you should have power on the red wire from the fuseable link.

If the headlight switch has not been damaged by a undiagnosed problem you should have power on the yellow wire.

The headlight switch has a built in self reseting breaker. If the switch is left shorted out the breaker may fail and the yellow will not have power.

If the headlight switch works with the dimmer switch and twilight sentinel module unplugged you have a problem with the "other half" IE the headlights or wiring OR the twilight sentinel module.

I'm having similar problems. Headlights don't work, park and tail and others work. Replaced dimmer switch. no change. Looking at the wiring diagram, the yellow wire at the dimmer switch is the power source directly from the headlight switch. I have 12 plus volts at the yellow wire when the headlight switch is on. If I jump from the yellow wire to either the high beam (green) or low beam (tan) lights still don't come on, and voltmeter reading at the yellow wire goes toward zero. But if I hot wire either the tan or green directly from the batery, the headlights come on.
The diagram doesn't seem to show anything that should cause the voltage at the yellow wire to drop when I connect the wires to the lights to the yellow wire. But it does. Any ideas.
