I have a set of iron clinder heads off a impala or a caprice lt1 they are # 12554290 I am told they are 64 cc and them 58 cc and then 87.1 cc so which is it??? Help.

58cc is aluminum, the iron are 64cc, and old iron heads*non-LT1) from the carburated days are 78cc. My only guess to where they got 87cc is a little aixelsid(read it backwards :rolleyes: ) and the numbers from the old heads.

P.S. those numbers will not be exact if you cc the heads but are close.

just took a syringe and filled it to see and some are around 62 and some 64, looks like 64 it is, thanks for the help, now I can order pistons.

next question is :: this is going to be a 383, what pistons should I go with a yeild of 9.7 or 10.3 A 18 d cup or a 12 d cup? What can I run with these steel heads as far as compression? On pump gas. :rolleyes:
