Has anyone removed the heat shields by the gas tank?
Mine are starting to rattle want to know if people replace them or what they do when they need to replace them

Mine were rattling like crazy, and were to rusty to screw back together. Took em off 2 years ago, and haven't burst into flames yet.

Same here...

I've had mine off for over a year now also, In two Las Vegas summers too! I think the real reason for the heat shield is to protect the tank in the event the exhaust was pressed against it somehow, either right after an accident or after an exhaust repair/replacement. Maybe keeps the temp of the fuel lower by a bit?

You guys are crazy, your gas tank is going to overheat and explode.

Worse yet someone is going to hit you and shove the exhaust pipe through the tank because that flimsy piece of steel isn't there.

Please note sarcasm
