With my new set-up i'm having real bad wheel hop.Having the bigger/heavier wheels doesnt help either . I did a quite bit of searching but dont really know what to look for. I'm really interested in buying UMI's CA's. I dont know which ones to get either:

GM B-Body Boxed Lower Control Arm and Adjustable Upper Control Arm Kit
$344.99

or

GM B-Body Upper & Lower Control Arm Kit
$269.95

What advantages can i get w/ the adjustable UCA's beside the price, lol ? Tia Rommel :D

....Waiting for Rustic's response

The adjustables simply allow you to center the wheels in the wheel well.

As far as I know they actually hurt traction, as it screws up the weight distribution.

Just a set of lowers will go a LONG ways towards fixing things. The aftermarket uppers are probaly best left to those who REALLY push the car one way or another.
You might consider some fresh bushings on the upper control arms but that is all most folks really need to consider. There are some definete disavantages to the fixed length uppers as they will not allow the suspension to fully move right. Adjustables require some knowledge to setup right and you NEED to get the ones which allow some twist like the UMIs but then use rubber at the differential end yet.

I am looking at the adjustable UMIs and would use new rubber at the differential end. Thing is though my upper arms have 170+K miles on them and come spring I will be looking for 1.5xx 60ft. times as is the car has done repeatable low 1.6xx on the stock arms even with bushings that old. They still work but they are old and I am pushing them harder than most.

You are thinking of extended which UMI does not offer.

Thank You Dwayne. So just buy the lowers.

I kinda wanted to just buy the whole kit i.e. Top/Bottom Control Arms. But if u say dont mess w/ the uppers i wont just the bushings.

Might not be a bad idea to get new stock UCAs though. I'm pretty sure they come with the arm-to-frame bushings installed.

I'm hoping to buy all these same parts soon, so I can install everything in the spring. Let us know how everything goes. ;)

The only way to get the right length stock uppers though would be to remove one and measure, which is fine if you can afford the downtime. That is a bigger project than you are going to want to do just to measure an arm put it back in so you can drive and then swap out again when the new parts arrive.

Uppers with rod ends will become more of a wear item than rubber bushings are meaning one more thing to lubricate and inspect regularly, the cost/effort too benifit ratio is just not there for most folks.

The bolt-to-bolt length of a stock UCA is 11.14"/283mm. No need to measure yours. Thanks goes to Bill Harper for that bit of trivia.

The other 2 sizes were options to correct for pinion angle in extreme cases. The stock, standard GM B-body UCA is 283mm. I highly doubt that any of our cars have the non-standard length. I would start with that figure as the length for adjustable UCA's and then measure the pinion angle once the car is on the ground.

Gotta co-sign and add $0.02 more to the pot.

IIRC BMR & Metco scoots the wheel back 3/4" and Hotchkis scoots 'em 1/2". Take your pick.

What shocks are you running Romo?

Yea me and Brett were going over what Trailing arms i should go w/.

I think i am gonna go w/ the BMR ext. I'd rather go for the boxed arms like UMI but they dont offer the Ext arms. Hotchkins is waay to damn expensive plus i'd like the match the brakes w/ the red powder-coating from BMR.

At first i wanted to stay away from ext. arms cuz from what i've searched there not to good for racing or launching. But i'm barely gonna see the track anyways, lol
So hopefully they will be sufficient

E, I got Bilsteins
