Same as the sedan axles. If you decide to get new gears, make sure you get set that accepts a reluctor, and a correct reluctor for the ratio.

Looked for my thread about rear axles going out prematurely but evidently too much vodka to find it. Info: I did NOT clean metal bits out of the axle tubes. I did NOT put enough oil in the rear end. I think that both would have led to premature failure of the rear axle bearings.

New issue: I may have stripped the climate control knob. I can only dial up the "defrost" setting for the air flow. What experience do y'all have? I've got a 95 Caprice wagon and I'm married to it, as some of you either know, or have suspected. 😅

If you pull the knob off, can you use a small straight blade screwdriver or similar to turn the shaft inside?

I should mention that my rear axle bearings probably failed prematurely because I didn't clean the metal shavings out of the axle tubes and put enough oil in the rear end.

I have a supply of HVAC knobs @ $20 shipped. I can offer a discount for more than one. I suggest carefully wrapping the shank of the knob with thread and add a drop of C/A to keep them from breaking.

The oil amount is probably the main culprit, or you used the wrong gasket for the cover, blocking the lube holes on the case. I use silicone to seal mine. Get some Moser axles this time. And, yes clean the housing. A magnet on a stick will grab the small chips.
