I've seen some cars that have bristles or something else in between the opening of the cover, so the actual hinge will push it away when closing.

What is this? What can I use?

Cheap snow brushes work great.

They are called "Door Sweepers" . You can get them at Home Depot where they have the gasket/ foam to insulate around door frames. They make rubber ones and the ones with the bristles. You need two of them I think. Kevin if you paint the back side of the hinge covers you don't need any bristles.

Thanks..yeah my dad told me about those. Saw em at HD for $7 for perfect length.

I'd rather just paint them.
