I thought I'd ask someone in here because I'm sure someone knows. I'm going to be putting 3 pumps and 5 batteries (60V system) in my trunk for my new hydraulics on my 94 9C1. But I was looking at the space beneath the rear deck, and I would like to go bandpass with 12" subs. How many could I fit in there, realistically? I was thinking 3 or maybe 4. Trunk space obviously isn't a concern, although I'll probably build a clear plexiglass cover over the pumps and batteries so I can still put some stuff in it.

How much power do I need to really make the car loud as heck?

My 93 Z28 has 2 12" RF subs in it with 300W (MTX 752 2 ohms mono) and it hits hard, but I asked a friend of mine about putting that in the Caprice and he made a point that the car is so much bigger I probably won't hear it.

its not the amount of batteries, people run more batteries basicly to power all there amps,not to push more into the amps, i just run one battery, i got a 600 and a 100 amp in my car, and i have no problems.

Yo DaytonaFBody!

First of all, why three pumps? Are you planning to go two gates to the front and the third for your booty? If so, why only 5 batteries and why two gates to the front? Are you planning to swing it? What kind of dumps? OG squares or delcos? Did bagging it ever cross your mind instead of "cutting" it?

I think it'll be easier to build your beats around the juice but it's all about you. I personally think three gates are too much unless your trying to swing and if your trying to swing, 5 batteries aren't going to be able to squash grapes!

Just my $0.02.

Juice is like going fast, the higher and faster you wanna go, the more money it takes.

looking and measuring the space under the rear deck, i think you will have troubles putting 2 12's in sealed boxes let alone bandpass. if you are going you use some of your trunk you may be able to go ported. ported is the way to go if you ask me. its going to be hard to get all that stuff in there, if it will even fit.

Whoops, i knew i could read way to fast! :rolleyes: hehe, so yea i have 3 subs in my trunk (10"s) with a 600w amp to them, Seald box, sounds really loud, its more of the box design to get it so far back so you can stil have room for the pumps an amps.... :rolleyes:

First. 5 batteries to aside is what I think he meant but if you are talking just one bank then there will be issues. I assume if you meant 2 banks of 5 batteries you are trying to 3-wheel or hop higher. Only reason you need 3 pumps or want them. You will be able to get 2 12" betweend the cylinders under the rear deck and allow room to service the cylinders. What size cylinders are you goin with? That makes a difference to. I just juiced my front end and will finish the back this week (fingers crossed). I plan on running 3 12's that go across the rear deck. I will be happy to answer any more questions you have. If you are only 1 bank of batteries, you will be charging them every month. It goes fast the more you hit the switches. I would look into a street charger if it is daily driven (www.streetcharger.com). Later

Sorry, 3 wheeling can be achieved with a standard 2 pump set up. Your run of the mill front, back, side to side, pancake and individual corners for three wheel motion.

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First you need three punps to do a standing 3-wheel. Two pumps only allows a moving 3-wheel and is not good for the ride. Now if cash is not a problem then you can accomplish a 3-wheel with 2 pumps by modding the suspension. Lets see 1-2 grand for modding the suspension or 400 for another pump. ;) You can only get a standing 3 -wheel with 2 pumps for short wheel based rides like imports. But we have huge cars on this forum :D ;)

BTW DaytonaFBody. I got your email today but I was out the door going out of town for work. I will get back to you Thursdays. You do not want to go more then 12's in the back unless you want to cut the rear dash and risk hitting the rear window. Sounds like that guy had a sic S-10.

Yo TWiG,

Bro, listen to me, tap in to your dumps in the rears to add a switch for each corner and your set. End of story. Don't get it twisted, I've seen this with my own eyes and is s.o.p. here on the streets. Of course it's a big car and the proper strapping of the frame, reinforcing the quarters and rear end is a must!

No need to have the guy spend money for a pump he doesn't need.

E-Dogg, You sure it wasn't on jack stands. You have got to prove this to me. The only cars that could do a standing 3-wheel off of 2 pumps is late model impalas and they had to have 10-12 battteries worth of weight in the trunk to do it. What do you mean by tap the dumps and add a switch. All 2-pumps can be wired in a 10 switch config. Each pump has 2 dumps that control two tires. Because of the check valve you can lift those two tires and then dump each individual one. You can not lift each one individually. So lets say you put a diagonal setup which lifts the diagonals and then you dump the rear. You still do not have enough weight to get it up. Our cars are too long in the wheel base. And who wants a car that lifts by the diagonal. Now you could also lift the front, dump a side, lift the rear, and dump the diagonal. Still can't get a standing 3-wheel just because there is not enough weight in the rear to pull the front up. Show me a picture of a car sitting still in 3-wheel with a 2pump. Then I will beleive you. Haven't even seen them in Lowrider mag either. If you have seen them in the street, how you know what they got in the trunk. I not getting anything twisted. Call up a local hydro place and ask if you can do a "standing" 3 wheel with 2 pumps without modding the suspension like I mentioned before. They will say it cannot be done on our type of vehicles. If what you say is true then why don't I see every car at a lowrider show doing a 3-wheel since a 2 pump is very common (due to cost, space, etc.) That is like the most wanted trick out there. I think people would do it left and right. Don't get me wrong you might know something I don't but when I look at my pumps and how they are plumbed it is impossible no matter how you change things. Just tell me more besides tap the dumps. A dump sits on each side of a check valve and is controled by a selonoid on each controled by the 10 switch box. The sel. has two wires. One to chassis ground and one to the switch cable. The sel. opens the dump as the motor comes on to allow the fluid to go to the cylinders. What are you tapping or are you just referring to the the standard 10 switch box and thought i was trying to do a 4 switch setup? I meant bigger car as we have a huge 2 ton ride not talking about proper frame reinforcement to the rear, quarters, full frame wrap, etc. Let me know how you do it and I will make a fortune. BTW this is just a friendly discussion and I look forward to your response. Maybe we can get some things cleared up. Oh, is that your old impala in the pic. Got any more. Looks like a 60-63 but could be wrong. that would be sweet. Later!
