Idea for the Nat's

I've been kicking around some ideas in my head today after speaking with Dal.

He's going nuts trying to catch up on orders from a few days of having his computer and phone system down. Even when he's caught up with orders, he's still working at full speed - starting at 4am, not stopping to eat lunch, taking 200+ phone calls and answering 300+ emails each day.

He'll be at Mountain MadneSS, and is trying to find time to get his car ready - tough to do working 14 hour days as he does.

I was thinking maybe ISSCA could do a 50/50 - with the other 50 going to Dal, sort of a thank you for just being Dal. Even if we all just pony up some $$ for him while we're there next month and present it to him? Along with a plaque of 'sincere gratitude' or some such thing?

I had some other ideas as well, but I won't get into them at this time. I will add that I would be happy to do what's neccessary to show thanks to our friend Dal.

So, what does everyone think?

I'm in. Dal is going to say "enough is enough" someday. I have no idea what we could get him, but I'll pitch in.
PM me.

Maybe he needs a personal female secretary to help keep him "company" while he's on the phone??

An excellent idea!

Dal has saved all of us some serious $$, not to mention, he's a walking parts manual and overall great guy. I'll help, email/PM me if you want some help getting something together.

ISSCA BOD, something official from ISSCA maybe?

While this is a great idea and all.....

ISSCA is pretty far ahead of y'all ;) . Dal is already an Honorary LIFE member of ISSCA, which is the HIGHEST award that the club gives out!

pardon me for stepping in and putting my two cents in. i'm new to b-bodies and new to this site, but i hear about this guy Dal alot. even though thats the highest honor you can get, it doesn't help you answer phones, return emails, nor fix your car. he seems like he does alot for everybody. in my opinion, i think that if there's anyone near him that he trusts, have them help out getting his car ready while he's slaving away at work. money is also a good substitute, but i'm pretty sure he would appreciate the extra hands on. hopefully this guy doesn't call it quits anytime soon, i have yet to contact him to get parts for my car. i'm sure he'll be a good source of help. once again, sorry if i ticked anyone off adding in my comment. :D

Well said, sir. Excellent idea about fixing his ride too (if it's doable).

Like they say: What have you done for me lately?

what's wrong w/ his car?

Ed, I know he's Honorary Member #2 - and that's pretty prestigious - I'm sure he wears that title proudly. And please don't take me the wrong way - I'm not trying to step on any toes - I'm just throwing an idea out there. Of course, this would be something that would need to be approved, sanctioned, and administered by ISSCA. But, as I said, I'd be more than happy to help facilitate...

I was thinking along the lines of the equivalent of a 'lifetime achievement' type of award, along with some money, an AmEx gift cheque, etc. There's several hundred people coming to the Nat's - if only 100 of those chipped in $20/each - that'd be $2000 - enough to bring the man to tears (of joy) I'd think.

1996caprice9c1, excellent idea - If any Ohio folks close to Dal have time to give him a hand, I'm sure he'd be greatful.

Where do I send my $20.00? Dal has been a godsend to me. I was fortunate enough to meet him on his way back from picking up his SS in Tampa. Dal is a real person and a fine human being. I was a major newbie to modern B-Body cars at that time.

Let him know all the nice things while he is here to enjoy and hear from those who care. Words and expressions of appreciation make a larger difference than we often think. Remember when you've been really down and some unexpected "thank you" came out of the blue. Made a difference, didn't it?

I often feel Dal keeps the B-Body flame alive. Just wish I had more money to spend on his fine parts. The twenty is but a token of appreciation. Let's do this!

I won't be able to attend Mountain MadneSS, but I would still like to help out Dal. Count me in.

i won't be going to that event being as though i'm not a member to the whole national group, and i don't know dal that well, but i'd be glad to chip in and give him some cash. hell i'm gonna spend money buying parts anyways, might as well slip him a tip in advance. if anyone gets this idea off the ground, please let me know so i can send a money order or something.

I think its a great idea ..

I am in

I'm in too. I think the world of Dal. Besides saving me and a lot of other folks a great deal of money and helping us procure the RIGHT and best parts for our cars, he's just a helluva nice guy.
G
Maybe donate to his favorite charity as a "tribute" or whatever this about. He's a good guy and helps the B-body crowd out a lot but it is his job which he is paid for.
Detail his car if you want that warm fuzzy feeling all over

I haven't forgotten about this guys.

I sent an email to several ISSCA board members on Monday night asking for their consideration of a formal 'recognition of thanks' sort of thing for Dal. As of tonight, I am still awaiting a response from them.

Updates will follow...

great idea!!!he well deserves more than just a pat on the back.he has save us all money.i will chip in what i can.if they do a 50/50 at the nats count me in.
G
Well, it seems that this idea was brought up too late for ISSCA to formally do something...which is understandable.

However, I would still like to do something and I'm sure others would as well.

That said, get with me in Pocono - we'll put our heads together and do something nice. I'll be rolling in on Sunday evening, and I'll be there all week.
