It's been one week today since we've been changed over to the "better" site. In that week I have had so much difficulty navigating on here. I was reading a discussion and a link was provided. I followed that link and the words were a slightly darker black that the black background. No way to read the discussion there. I did a search and was advised that as I tried to move forward I got a "Bad Gateway" message. In the search you can only go forward to the 10th page. That's a pain if you want to go to the last page and it's over 100 pages long. I see no reason at all, except for maybe advertising $, to have Popular Communities on the side bar. Participation points are for, using old school term, "Teenie Boppers". These do not enhance our reason for being here. We're car people and not just some dolt in their mother's basement looking for "Likes". I realize that there is no return, even though there was never an option to give an opinion, paid or not. I am not a fan of the Screen New Deal.

I feayol yoor paein. Search will either recover, --- or it won't. Apparently scads of 'indexing the data' still to go, and it could be days months or ???? Some relief on other fronts may be found by:
Click your AV (upper rt. corner), then Account Settings, then each listing under Settings. I unchecked dam near everything everywhere. But you're right that us old farts getting triggered by insipid redundant careless data getting plastered willy nilly just to amuse and distract 3-second attention span youngsters. Like I totally certainly need these on the exact same screen:

Product Text Logo Font Graphics
Text Font Line Parallel

And where would we all be without this, when the complete list of topics are RIGHT ABOVE IT:

Text Font Line
Text Font Pink Line Logo

And don't get me started on the intro. I've already let loose early in the 'We're Live' thread on how incorrect and misleading it is"

Text Font Line Document

Text Font White Line Handwriting

We should count our blessings 'Popular Communities' is limited (so far) to just Home Entertainment and Mountain Bike Reviews. But there's blank room below those to add 20 more: 'Crocheting Without Power', 'Wrap Your Ferrari', 'Quill Pen Collectors'... the possibilities are endless.

I've already set up a bookmark automatically to the 'Popular' tab under the 'New' balloon, which shows all current posts answered or not. But for now there's only one page of results - if you want more then it's the less frequently updated 'New Posts' tab.

And it's easy to miss a longer detailed reply as you have to check to:

It must be a stray intention on saving screen space, but I can see lots of info getting glossed over when not catching that little note on a little phone screen. . hahaha Keep with it Mark, I'm sure the hosts are playing the same AGILE programming catchup with all their other "updated improved" forums. We just gotta be good little free beta testers and keep their attention on fixing flubs.

BTW, click the banner and get a kick outta the Top 5 'Trending Discussions'. The most recently updated one was 14 months ago, and the others have been between 2-1/2 and 10-1/2 years since any reply.

Another thing I caught as I was going to use the "We're going live" post. I clicked on it to make a comment. It informed me that I couldn't post as the thread was CLOSED!!!
Who or what mechanism makes that happen? This is about as painful as a self performed tooth extraction. I can't help but think of "We're the government and here to help you". Yeah right. More force fed BS.

Um. Not Closed to me. You clearly need more trophies, points and better reaction time to post there. ;P

Serisly, you ARE referring to this one, aren't you?:

This is my first time on the revamped forum. So far, I'm not a fan but I HATE software changes as a general rule. I can't seem to find a way to search within a particular "folder". Can you search for a word or a string in just the "Brake" section?

3 vertical dots upper rt. corner
Advanced Search
Keywords "Caliper"
Search In Forums "Brakes"
Down Arrow filter 'Most Relevant' = 193 hits, 'Most Recent' = 179. Yah that's fubar any way you look at it.
As I mentioned previously, results list every single stupid post where the keyword appears even in the same thread, which would be evident anyway by just clicking on the thread with the first listing of the keyword. BTW it's rather obvious 'caliper' has been typed at least a few thousand times over the past 18 years on this forum. Hopefully this indicates a lot more 'data indexing' still required.
Software changes are always required, but the slapdash manner of rollout reminds me of those beloved offshore call centers ---- paying way below minimum wage. Full of people who've never driven a car. Much less ever worked on one. And don't know an Isetta from a Maybach.

For multi-word search like [backing plate] it used to be better to put them inside quotes, but no intel on what that does now.
