Camping out tonight and Sat. night about 50 miles South of town. I've gotta run up to the hotel tomorrow afternoon to pick up my passes. Was thinking about heading into town this evening for some cruisin. Anyone in town yet? Hit me @ 229-798-0664

Looks like I'm gonna go to the F1 race Sunday before heading over to the hotel. Got a call this afternoon from a friend I'm doing business with and it turns out his company is a sponsor for McClaren. Snagged a corporate paddock/pit pass for Sunday with breakfast with the McClaren crew. This week is gonna be a helluva lot of fun!!!!

Checkin into what's happening this weekend.

Big Concours car show downtown on Sat.

Car Club Downtown Cruise
The Grand Week in Indy Car Cruises in downtown Indianapolis will feature some of the world’s fastest and most exotic street automobiles. Due to the popularity of the car cruises during USGP weekend, two additional cruises have been added for 2006.

Car brands included in the “Grand Week” cruises are Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Lotus, Corvette, Porsche, Jaguar, Mini Cooper and Miata, plus a mix of other vintage automobiles. Car cruises will take place between 3:30-7:45 p.m. Friday, June 30 and 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 1. Most cruises will start and end at the Indianapolis Zoo parking lot, traversing downtown in the process.

The Ferrari cruise June 30 will start at the Zoo at 3:30 p.m. and end at Monument Circle. This cruise will lead into the Ferrari Club of America’s “A Gathering of Ferraris” display from 4-8 p.m. at Monument Circle.

FRIDAY thru SUNDAY USGP Car Corral:

•Visitors to IMS during USGP activities Friday, June 30 through Sunday, July 2 also can view dozens of exotic vehicles up-close at the IMS Car Corral from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. June 30-July 1 and from 6 a.m.-5 p.m. on Race Day, Sunday, July 2.

The corral will be located on the backstretch of the Speedway’s famous 2.5-mile oval.

Gene,
About the only place I can think of is down in Greenwood at the Sud's. That's where you guys came to last year when you were finalizing the stuff for the Nat's. It should be pretty packed now though.
Not the ghost town it was that nite. :D

Went to the car show downtown this morning. Who's standing there with a camera taking pics of the entries? No one else but CHINO!!! You Latin Devil, you! What a small world. Hung out most of the day being amazed by some really nice mechanical creations Indiana has to offer. I'll post a link to Chino's pics once he posts up.

This incredible lil speedster hot rod pulled in real late and I invited him to park next to me so I could talk to him about his car.

Turns out the guy (and his wonderful wife) I was talking to was none other than Mike Spitzer. If you've never heard of him... He recently received a NHRA Life Time Acheivement Award for his 35 years of work building and racing dragsters. This guy is a hoot! He invited me and a few of my friends (Black Sunshine will carry four passengers..) to come visit his shop sometime this coming week to see what he's building now. From the look of his lil Speedster, his carbon fibre shop must be second to none. http://www.gospitzer.com/ssbspitzercoach.htm

Man, things are going well. No hurricanes in the forcast. Made it safely to Indianapolis. Caught a great car show. Made a few new friends. Caught some leads on some new electronics (THANKS Chino!).

Finished up at the show and headed over to the hotel. Picked up a lil package I'm sure is gonna make this week even more incredible. One Team McLaren Corporate Paddock Pass for Sunday. (I'm goin out to get more batteries for the camera right now.)

Ha, ha. Yep, Paul, good memories. I still miss Atlanta's Gold Club.

Bob, hush. Don't tell anyone! OK?

Just got checked into one of the "un-remodeled" rooms. Took about an hour for them to get a remodeled room ready for me. Moved now (RM 553). Cool!

Cause I just about cooked at the race today. But what a day. Go to the track at 8 am. Did the early pit row walk before the crowds got there. One of the Mercedes PR guys grabbed me and took me right up to the garage. I have to say I was in an extreme state of awe. Speechless. Dumbfounded. Just plain awe-struck. All I can keep thinking about is finding out who makes those brakes. 200 MPH to 60 MPH in 100 yards. WOW! All Juan Pablo kept talking about was how easy driving the car is. He said, "It's point and shoot.".

A few teasers and the link to the 100-something pics I took. Got some good ones. More pics being uploaded as I type and you read.

Me and Juan Pablo's car.

My dream 14" brakes.

You shoulda seen the poor tire manager unwrapping all those tires (plus the 60 other ones out back), popping the valves and restacking them for transport. 32 tons of equipment shipped in on 4 747's just for McLaren.

Nice headers and one hell of a small package.

The Mercedes Paddock Club. Great Breakfast. Great lunch. Swwwwwweet hospitality package. Free drinks all day. There are some VERY rich people hangin around here.

Juan Pablo flew into town this morning after attending Daytona last night.

I heard that Jeff Gordon came back up with him.

I don't know what happened here. My finger musta slipped.

You have been invited to visit a photo album http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v448/boilrmkr/Car%20Shows/US%20Gand%20Prix%202006/

Updates in the morning. Gonna take a shower and hit the parking lot lounge and get very drunk.
