A Lingenfelter intake manifold.

Below is quoted from the article within the ebay ad.

"The crowning touch for the fortified 383-cubic-inch small-block is what the motor maestro calls his SuperRam intake manifold. This multipiece assembly consists of a base casting, 25-inch-long intake runners packed inside a box, and a lid to seal the top."

is there any great gain to them over a stock lt1 manifold?

Yes but there are better ways to spend $1000-1500. And it's very tedious to install and remove. This thread discusses it in more detail.

EDIT - in fact, for cheaper money, you could buy a cam, a torque converter, and have the car tuned.

You really believe the 25" runner part of the description? Even if it were true, why would you want 25" runners?

The total runner length for the SuperRam intake is actually 15" which is still a lot.

A tuned intake port places the pressure pulse at the intake valve when it is open, thereby giving the charge a little extra boost. When the pulse reaches the valve depends on the length of the runner. Shorter for higher revving engines, and longer for low end performance. It must be matched with the cam. The wave inside of the runner travels from end to end at the speed of sound. You can calculate the timing of the pressure pulse to arrive when your cam wants it, and adjust the length to give you that timing. Exhaust headers do the opposite, in that they supply a negative pressure pulse to suck spent gasses from the combustion chamber. There are formulas available on the internet to help design one that will best suit your needs If there are no suitable manifolds available.

Corvettes used to have two different length runners on the 4 valve/cylinder heads for a wider power band. They would disable one of the runners for valet parking and children of the owner.
