I bought what I believed was a 95 impala ss.
I’ve looked in the trunk and it has wx3 on it, but of course someone could have just swapped the label or trunk. I’ve checked the vin number, but it comes up as impala ss on some sites and caprice on others. The title also says 1995 impala ss, but here’s the thing I noticed a middle seat belt near me cup holder as if it had a bench seat before which makes me think that maybe it is indeed a caprice. Yet I can’t help to think that someone wouldn’t go through all that work to make it look like an ss. It has all the impala ss badges on seats, dash, quarter panels.impala wheels.

If you do NOT want to use facespook:

What's the VIN?
For example: 1G1BL52P0SR178005

Go to this website:

Type in the VIN, then click 'Get CAL ID'.
Select 'PCM/VCM Powertrain / Vehicle Control Module', then click 'Next >'.
Select 'Programming', then click 'Next >'.

The following calibration part numbers are specific to Impalas SS (WX3):
1994 Old Cals-16200341 > 16202491 > 16207221 > 16232021 > 16243011-FINAL Cal
1995 Old Cals-16206641 > 16209351 > 16232011 > 16243041-FINAL Cal
1996 Old Cals-16229981 > 16235361 > 9394931-FINAL Cal
Any of those calibration part numbers is for an Impala SS (WX3).

The following calibration part numbers are specific to Caprices SS (WX8):
1995 Old Cal-16207231 > 16211301-FINAL Cal
1996 Original-16230431-FINAL Cal
Any of those calibration part numbers is for a Caprice SS (WX8).

If your calibration part number is not any of those numbers, then I hope it was a bargain.

Part of this process is making sure that the VIN on your trunk sticker matches the VIN on your dash. People pull all sorts of funny business with these cars.

This is really suspicious. I mean REALLY.

You would be surprised. The 94-96 Impala SS is one of the most cloned cars in existence. The price difference between a genuine WX3 and a regular Caprice is huge.

If the VIN that you checked was the VIN from the trunk sticker that says WX3, then obviously it will come back as Impala. You need to make sure that all of your VINs match. In addition to the trunk and dash, I know the VIN is also stamped on the engine somewhere. I'm trying to remember where else there may be a VIN.

Can anyone else speak on the seatbelt? I can't get past it mentally.

The same VIN should be on the dash, front door sticker, trunk sticker, and if it's still legible, the frame.

Can anyone drop knowledge on the seatbelt issue?
Of the 100's of times I have been under my 96SS, Can't remember if there is any additional seat belt anchor points for a front center belt used on standard bench seat B body models or if they shared the inboard anchor points for a center seat belt on those models.

"Maybe" a PO just added a center belt for something like a baby seat straddled on the center console (IMHO not a good idea)

OP...does this center belt match the other front belts (color) and does it anchor to the same points as DS/PS front?

Same anchor point in both. Maybe belts were worn ,and replacement donor was a Caprice.
Do VIN's match?

The vin in the dash is 1g1bl52p4sr134590 I ran it on the site giving above^ and the numbers matched. Also the seat belt in question is connected to the driver side belt buckle(not the seatbelt) but the buckle. there isn’t a buckle that goes to the extra seat belt so I’m thinking maybe there was a caprice donor car or something.

there’s also chrome under the black paint on the wheel trim I’m not sure if that’s normal but it seems odd.
