Hi, I have a roadmaster limited model and I noticed that I have a steering damper on my center link. My question is, do I still need this part? and what are the benefits of having the damper in my suspension?, because I noticed the Impala and Caprice do not have one as far as I know.

You don't really need it, although my alignment guy gave me a hard time about deleting it...lol :D

It is there to eliminate bump steer inputs, as well as shocks to the steering from road debris, and irregularities in the road surface. If you do not care for the numbing of the steering, remove it.

Thank you all for your responses, it does make sense now, i can feel the difference from my 9c1 caprice to the Roadmaster, especially on the freeway, it does keep all bumps to a minimum. This is a nice extra to have on the car =) I recommend it.:)

GM had too many of them, laying around the factory. GM figured it would be cheaper to bolt them on cars...........than pay for trash pickup.
