hey gang..fabs here again..okay.so i went back to see that caprice for sale, it's a '94 9C1, has G80 (slip diff), with a 4.3LT engine..The car has 150k on it, the body is in real good shape the motor still has to be checked, and they are asking 4,900$(cdn, negotiable). Do you think it's a good deal for this car? I know the engine is small, but it's okay, i'm not the real racing type and it's a bit better on gas.that's cool with me, i'm just wondering if this is a good deal? Is there anything in particular i should look for? let me know.thanks

LM13 : keep in mind with the current exchange between Cdn and US dollars, fabs car is around $3440.00 US.
But do you REALLY want a 4.3l engine fabs ?
Having driven both the 4.3 & the 5.7, my choice was easy... :)
Good Luck, Jim...

I don't know what the market is like way out there, but here in NY, my girlfriend's 94 9C1 LT1: 120,000miles, no damages, solid maintenance record from Vermont : $3500 out the door.
If mileage is that important to you, no one can stop you. Just remember:
Her car is as slow as yours. Is you car as fast as her's? ;)

okay..so your car has the LT1 but witha few more klicks on it...granted it is more powerful, it don't bother me that this has the smaller engine as long as it performs well, that's what i'm looking for, anywho the cops over here are not very forgiving when it comes to speed so i'm not really looking for a rocket, i just wanna know if it's a good deal, i took a better look today and the car seems good, have to inspect motor and has a few things to fix up inside.but that's about it...whatcha think? let me know.thanks

I can not comment on price but I think the 4.3l V8 is a good motor. I have one in my car and would like to get a LT1 but it does has sufficient power, around 200hp 245ft.lbs.. it is the same as an LT1 exept for the bore and stroke. MANY of the same parts so it should be just as reliable. I believe the 9C1 cars with the L99 got 3.23 rearends That would help improve SOTP feel, but should not hurt milage, my civilian car has 2.97 gears.

Just get it dammit

Since i've got my car from montreal, i've keep looking for used 9C1, and since a year, *nothing*

only grampa caprice at ~7000-15000$, and some 91 at ridiculous 5000 pricetag.

i'm seen a cute blacked out impala clone made of some 93 9c1, for 3500$, cute deal, but it was a 93. at 4000$ i also saw some weird RED 92 impala ss clone, boy is was ricey

Go look out of Quebec to find a better LT1 94-96, for the $$ you wanna put in ;) , else buy that one from stephane even if it's a 4.3 (you wanna save some fuel eh? =), or wait...

When the time came to buy out my caprice, I wanted it _right now_, and within 2 weeks and 5 LT1 checked out, i got my deal on my current 95, at 7900$, seem fair, the others 9C1 were 9000+, and all had some major trouble from abuse. All car were checked/tested by a specialist from bank of mtl.

Since you're in Canada, can I clarify, does the car have 150K miles or kilometers, if it has 150K kilometers on it, then its mileage is a great deal less than what you guys think it is, I think it would actually be 90K miles or something close to that (fabs, push the E/M switch on the lower left of center of the dash near the radio to switch the dash to MPH and the odometer to Miles, then push it again to switch back)

That is a good price for a car with that mileage on it, if in fact you are telling us 150K kilometers. The civilian L99 and 9C1 L99 are identical motors, neither is peppier its the gearing, the 9C1 L99 got 3.23 gears in the differential, the civilain L99 got something a little more grandparent like, which would explain the apparent difference in power that you guys have noticed when driving both.

Just gotta look for details, I didn't think it had as much mileage as this forum originally thought, because you seemed too enthusiastic about a car with 150k miles on it.

Check everything you can before you buy it, but I think I will now endorse it as a good deal, good luck fabs.
