ISSCA 2012 Nats - Back in The Motor City by popular demand!

Yes it's true. We listened to the feedback and the 2011 Nats hosted by ISSCA and MISSL were, as per the members, a huge hit!

So ISSCA is officially announcing the 2012 Nationals will be heading back to The Motor City! MISSL did such a great job in 2011 that they will be running the show once more in 2012. Don Lambert and the MISSL crew did an outstanding job and were gracious enough to offer to throw the party once again for 2012. After all the hard work to get 2011 going ISSCA and MISSL can build on the hugely positive feedback of 2011 and fine tune it to make 2012 the best Nats yet! Of course it will once again center around the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise. This is what's known as a WIN-WIN!

So...who's in?

BTW, it's never to early to black out these approximate dates on your calendar kids:

Tuesday August 14th - Saturday August 18th 2012

Terry and BK yukkin it up at triple digit speeds at 2011 Nats...

I wouldn't miss it. I will be there ready to beat the hell out of my car, well that is if someone doesn't buy it LOL, doubtful but possible.

I'm starting to look at hotels now. Hoping to find someplace with a bigger parking lot.

Awesome! Count me in!
Awesome! Count me in!
Did you decide to keep your car???
I wanted to go to Nats SO BAD this year and just couldn't make it. I've been hoping all along that they would hold it in Detroit again next year so this is just AWESOME. I will be there.
No doubt I'll go back!

Ditto!
Don L has been doing a lot of behind the scenes work and has been firming up the schedule. Nothing 'official' but this is about as close to a solid schedule we can get until we lock in the deposits.

There is no event quite like the Woodward Dream Cruise. Driving your Impala down Woodward Avenue with nearly 30,000 muscle cars, street rods, and customs is a once in a lifetime thing. Add in Autocross, Road Racing, Drag Racing, a Car Show, and a Stereo Sound-off and some may call that crazy. We call it the ISSCA Nationals!

2012 Pretty Darn Firm Schedule:

Tuesday, August 14th: Check in and registration

Wednesday, August 15th: Autocross and Drag Racing at Milan Dragway 10am-10pm

Thursday, August 16th: Road Racing at Waterford Hills Raceway 10am-5pm

Friday, August 17th: Car Show at Metro Beach 9am-3pm

Saturday, August 18th: The one and only legendary Woodward Dream Cruise plus ISSCA Awards Ceremony

We are still working on the host hotel. We are leaning towards the same hotel as last year but they are trying to charge us $50 MORE per room per night. Their logic: We checked and last year we were sold out that week. LOL. Yeah you were sold out because WE BOOKED UP YOUR HOTEL! :D We will attempt to fight computer stats with logic, wish us luck with upper management at the Marriott. Anyone have a family member who works for Marriott in management?

Let's get the party started!

Step 1: Rejoin ISSCA. Every membership runs out 12/31 so we all have to renew. Please go to www.issca.org and re-up.

Step 2: Register for 2012 Nats. We will open up online registration shortly after the New Year.

Thanks,
Bill

Is there any reason behind the change to have it during the week?
I will not be able to close my business for a week to attend the whole event.
I guess I will just try to make the car show & leave the next morning.

Hey Tom. It's only more day than last year. We added the extra day so we didn't have to try and jam a car show and then a drag race (at a remote location) into the same day. Hopefully you can work it out, would love to see you at the whole event. Take care.
Vacation time is set for tuesday till friday. Gotta go back at work on Saturday. If everything works good, I should make it this year. And maybe who knows, some drag racing...!!!cwm4cwm4
Another reason to think seriously about working out some kind of rotating parking lot patrol during the Nats (or any other major event):

Hi,
Someone stole Jimmy Middleton's Vette last night from his home. This is the second time a friend of mine in the last month this has happened, horrible! You know we need to treat these people as they did in the old west when one stole a horse.
I just talked to him and his car has been found withour major damage. This is great news!

It is about selling the engine first for cash even out of state, I have learned, that no where is safe. We have had this happen to policyholders in Elmore county and Prattville, too, that I know about. Onewas located at a remote home in the country. The cars having LS1 engines and newer engines are stolen and the engines are sold for cash. The engine is the first to go. The cars are stolen with a roll back hauler, many times.

I also had a friend stopped over for one night at the Drury Inn by SAMS and they slide his low 10 second Grand National on to a rollback tow truck between 1:00 and 5:00 AM. I was a 10 year project, super fast and a show car. Never recovered.

A whole rig truck........ .trailer and race/show Grand National was stolen in Bowling Green in Oct at the Buick Nationals. They have preyed on other events in BG and the police and city are making some effort . They host a lot of events and it is bad for their city. Only the car was recovered weeks later, but still togerther. This was a well planed thief, knowing the last day of the event the motels would be full of entire rigs waiting to go home on Sunday morning.

Please be carefull. It is a shame we cannot enjoy aour cars as they were ment to driven. Law enforcement can only do so much and we have some great people working in the river region, but it still happens. These are the times we are living and I wonder the future. We are going to have to go to great measures to prevent this from happening to our cars.

Between Cracka's late night drinking crew and the events crew getting up before sunrise, I'm pretty sure the parking lot was well supervised.

But we can try to setup something more official for 2012. All affirmative comments will be accepted as offers to work an overnight shift.
