How many of you have become members with ISSCA??

I ask because I personally am a strong believer in this organization. On February 11 2001 they are tentively co-hosting a local car show along with one of my area sponsors at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. I would like to see a large turn out at this event because we are literally crashing the Mustang’s party. February is Mustang month at this car show and I have been working diligently to bring our side of this event together. Mustangs vs. Impalas, if you will. I have been told that I can have 70 cars enter free of charges. I would like to see all 70 of these cars be Impalas. I am also looking into getting Trophies for the Impala’s. I know a lot of you guys live to far away but that doesn’t mean you can’t participate. ISSCA still needs a logo. If you have any artistic talent now’s the time to let it show. Please refer to the link below to submit logos. And for those of you that are close enough to attend. Please RSVP me and I will start a list of those attending and make updates on the forum. ED this means you. It isn’t that far of a drive for you to come down here. Besides a lot us want to see your ride. Ohh I almost forgot. The car show organizers are trying to get the local drag race club (I forgot the name) to host a 1/8-mile event right after the car show behind Qualcomm Stadium. If you have any questions please post them. Hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Tom : I also signed up when I first read about the new organisation on the NAISSO Digest. Have not heard anything since or seen the 1st magazine issue...... Thought perhaps it was a mailing issue to Ontario, Canada ?
By the way, the Logo that is already on the web page actually looks quite good...
Jim..in Hockey Tourneys today :)
PS- wish I was closer for your show in San Diego....

Feb 11th eh......gonna have to look at the calendar when I get back in CA (in Huntsville AL right now on vacation....my God its COLD here in AL compared to sunny CA) but it just might be doable!

We (ISSCA magazine staff) got a bit behind on the magazine printing/mailing, but I am happy to report that the printing is done, the labelling is done, and the magazines SHOULD be in the mail by now (i.e. the "fulfillment house" which does the mailing/labelling has had them for over a week, and they usually take less time than that).

So, it should be showing up any day now. I have a copy (paper only, not electronic) of the "final working copy" of it and I think y'all are gonna be impressed.

That said, we are looking for ideas and contributors for future magazine articles. Wanna see your name in print? Well, next time you or your local club does something cool take some pictures (35 mm....they publish better) and do a write up of it and we'll see if we can get you published!

Look for some great things to come from this organization in 2001!!!

At HOSS's Christmas party I got a sneek peek at the Impala SScene magazine. Dan Johnsen is the magazine's editor and he brought a few copies with him.

I must say that it is very well designed and has some great info in it. I cannot wait til my own personal copy shows up in my mailbox

I have been receiving a number of e-mails in regards to the car show on the 11th of February. All expressing concern over the show quality of their cars. This show is an amateur car show. It is mostly for fun and for fellow auto enthusiast to get together and talk about cars and mods. I don’t want anyone thinking this is a “Professionally Judged” show. At this car show the spectators are the judges. They get ballets at the gates when then enter the show. Every month is something different at these shows. I go with Brewdawg and Tirpitz nearly every month for our comradery. It’s a Sunday we get together to chat about this and that. Mainly what we have done to our SS’ and what is coming over the next several months. It’s kind of like the forum only in person. Plus a lot of vendors are there and you may get a good deal on some parts or services your car needs. Please feel free to post additional questions in this tread so I may answer them for everyone to read.

Tom is right. This is not really a judged event. Believe me, my car (in it's current condition) will NEVER win any trophys. But it's more of a popularity contest.

The nice thing is seeing the people and talking to them. There's something lost in a typed post.

Well in away thats sort of good i thought this was a judged event. i was conerened on if i had to get my car super dooper clean then driving to san diego to clean it all over again. i mainly use my car for shows and have won a ton of trophys it will be nice to sort of kick back at an event for a change well anyway assuming it is not raining i will be there.

Wanted to know what time we would need to show up for the Qualcomm event.
Screwed up my first try at this posting this message.

The event starts at 6 am and runs till just after 1pm when they are finished handing out the Trophy's. I usually get there with Eric and Mike at 6:30-6:45 am but up until 8 am is fine we will save you some spots.
G
Hmmm, done by 1PM.....starting to sound a lot more do-able! Could drive down on Sat, crash Sat night down there, goto the show Sunday, and head back Sunday afternoon/evening (guessing approx 7 hrs from SD to my place).

Ed, I would love to see you down here. Bill Harper is also supposed to attend and be with us. Last I heard Harvey Clark and Bill will also be attending the Jan show but our big Impala SS day will be Feb 11th. Which reminds me ED has anyone come up with a club Logo yet? I need to submit one before Jan 15 for the 30,000 fliers they are going to be making and handing out.

Nobody should really be concerned about this. I understand the concern - I used to feel that way myself. Then I went to a few shows and found out that it doesn't really matter. My car is a daily driver (put 40K on it in the 2 years I've owned it), has some paint problems here and there, and has (except for my air intake mod) a stock 305cid engine. My first couple of shows I just went and had a good time. Made a lot of good friends doing that. Later I started detailing (cleaning) my car before the shows (especially under the hood) and I started winning trophies. I have won second twice at the annual HotSS CruiSSe (Scott Johnson aka KLRWHL won first both times) and won first at the HOSS-sponsored Impalafest 2000. Big supprise because I still don't consider my car to be "show quality" by any stretch of the imagination.

I can't be in San Diego for the show. I really wish I could. Any of you out there who have a chance to go to this show (or any other for that matter) should not pass up the chance. You'll have a great time, I promise! Put a little extra effort into the cleaning before the show and you might just get a supprise at the end of the day.

Tom:

I see you posted the Qualcomm show on the SoCalSS chat room. I would think you should get more interest as there are members of the SoCalSS that don't frequent this forum. You may want to repeat it one more time.

Trust me Mike F. : that's opening a huge can of worms that you have NO idea about
. Tom probably knows, I'll leave it at that (and that's all that needs to be said in public).

As for the ISSCA logo : there is a contest going on right now to design one. However, I doubt we'll have anything "picked" by Jan 15th. So, we may need to get you a "temporary" logo to use for that flyer.

As for the "show car" thing : mine is definitely NOT a show car! I'll be at this SD show as a moral support kinda thing for the club and to hang out with some cool folks (and sure, I'll put at least SOME effort into cleaning up the car), but sure as heck harbor no illusions about winning anything! Daily driver in rain tends to discourage that, plus I tend to be a lot better with the mechanical and driving stuff than with the cleaning stuff

The list continues to grow today. As soon as I get a few more responses I will post a new list. Thanks for your responses.

I still have mixed feelings about a new club. Im not saying that its not a good thing. But in all the times ive been to naisso down in FLA troy is hard at work on the phones helping peolpe with club matters. now it is true things have not been as they should but i think troy should be given a chance.i was surprised to see that naisso is little more than a garage with a office. And i think that this new club with a national scope is going to be cause for just more division between SS owners. That is if and ONLY if things arent done right. Well enough ranting ill just shut up.
My 2 cents
