Greetings everyone! I am happy to say that the ISSCA BoD has voted yours truly to redesign the ISSCA web site!

This should be the first of a few polls I will take in the next few weeks. I want to know what all of you would like to see on the new ISSCA web site. Belong to a different club with a cool feature on their site? Let me know. Have an idea for color schemes, post it here. Uploadable photo galleries? Chat room? I want to know what everyone is looking forward to.

Please keep this constructive. I want this to be a new beginning for the ISSCA site, and I want this thread to stay positive.

So have at! I won't promise everything, but I'll certainly do my best to make this web site everything the club has hoped for. ;)

Great news! The site certainly needs a fresh look. I like that you've been asking for info for a database of colors. I think that's an awesome! I would suggest expanding that to include differences in the years, interiors, etc. I know this would be a major undertaking though.

One suggestion. There are (unfortunately) those of use who are still stuck with dial-up. Please be considerate when designing pages! :D

Congrats Dan! Whatever you do, I know it'll look good. Work your magic!

...how 'bout a video library?
...ISSCA member's profile with pics, car specs etc

ISSCA member portion/piece of the forum vs. general public??

ISSCA Chartered Club pic/video section and perhaps a link to their local forum/site/group?

And girls. ;) Lots!

Can't wait to see your samples as the request come in.

And may God bless your soul, too, Dan! ;)

Two separate views of the pages. one high speed, one dial up.

One user update-able page for each club member with a template for personal info, car info, fav links, etc.

Forums with thread subscription options.

And of course, a picture of my car welcoming all to the website!!! :D

Lots of great ideas so far.

One point I thought I'd bring up is server disk space. You'll need much more than we have now. Now might be a good time for ISSCA to invest in their own server. This may already be planned, just thought I would throw it out there.

Best of luck,

I'm cross posting this here as a suggestion also...

perhaps we also need to password the ISSCA sections of the forum so that only members are involved in the discussions in certain areas.

At least that way we know concerns are coming from dues paying members of the club...

I remember when we were discussing the Wimpala a few months ago - there was a lot of input from outside the club...

and in its own section that would be fine - but perhaps we need sections for members only also...

It would also help directors know they were speaking to constituents without having to search and be sure they were...

I think that a lot of BOD communcation could be done right here then - instead of another forum to go check out every day...

Less costly and time consuming too...

Good ideas guys. I do not at all plan on making a bandwitch intensive website. I know when things should be 8-color GIFs instead of 24bit JPGs. The site will be hosted on my dedicated server at Robert Allen's company, CCU Studios, the same place that hosts this forum and other Impala-related sites. A very stable and fast network. I've got a 16GB drive so we should be fine as far as space.

Keep the suggestions coming guys!

I'm easy, just keep it easy to read. No wacky colors or black backgrounds with white text. That stuff hurts bad.

KISS. Eliminate all the "crap" that causes website bloat. Just keep it nice, clean, and simple.

Don't worry, I may do all my stuff with ASP & SQL Server... but I am not an Internet Explorer advocate. I test all my sites with Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla Firefox to ensure there are no Internet Explorer proprietary features. But, I don't make my sites for Netscape 4.X or lower.

Maybe mention a short blurb about the Impala SS and add a neat picture.

Make it look lively. The SoCalSS site is cool.

Good point. Can someone point me to a realy nice, professional writeup about the 94-96 Impala SS? Possibly some history and facts?

There is a book called "American Classics
Impala 1958 - 2000", by Dan Burger & Robert Genat.

Published in 2000 by MBI Publishing, 729 Prospect Ave., P.O. Box 1, Osceola, WI, 54020 - 0001 USA.

Chapter 8 , "Some of that old magic returns", is about the 1994 - 1996 Impala SS...

This might have some of the info you are looking for...Good Luck !

Keep in mind that Dan doesn't have control over this forum, so if you want those changes made to this forum you need to talk to HACK.
