First start of my '94 Fleetwood with the Torqhead 24x conversion installed. This was Thursday afternoon and I was done for the day once I reached this point. The next day I reconnected the exhaust, put coolant back in it and took care a few other odds and ends. Was also able to run it some more and after a bit it began to start, idle and run much better. Haven't driven it yet, but hoping to do that over the weekend. Still need to wire in the OBD2 port, take care of an oil leak that I found (I think I forgot to torque the bolts on the oil filter adapter) and a few more little odds and ends. Mostly lost the onboard diagnostics from the HVAC, but that was expected (although I have a theory on how it may be possible to get it back, but more research is needed). Traction Control appears to not be functioning as the telltale is on, but again that was expected and I should be able to talk Paul into fixing that down the road.

The only other weird thing I noticed was the speedometer, it likes to put out a slow speed when the car is stationary and in park. It does increase with engine speed, but later I did put the car in gear and let the wheels spin and the speed increased beyond what it would show in park. I'll have to compare it to the GPS on my phone while moving to see if there's an accuracy issue. Aside from that it seems to function completely fine. I am very happy to say the least. Titty sprinkles. :grin2:

It's always a great feeling to do serious work on the car, turn the key and have it fire right up. Congrats!!

I'm feeling a little dejected now. I've been fighting an overheating issue since I got running, and now it also runs like a**. After the initial period where the PCM was learning and figuring stuff out it was obviously a little weird, but once it got past that it was running smooth and strong. Better than it did before I even installed this stuff. Very quickly though I ran into overheating issues and have yet to figure it out. At first the electric water pump popped a fuse, so I upgraded that and I've confirmed I've got voltage at the harness (Meziere HD w/ Innovative wiring harness), but it's driving me nuts. This morning it seemed like it was fine, held a steady temperature, was blowing heat from the vents, and then it acted up again, overheated and was blowing ice cold air out the vents. Every time the expansion tank is leaking, steaming, boiling, and I get nothing but air and steam out of the bleeder on the thermostat. I initially put just over 4 gallons of coolant/water into the system which would be the normal capacity for a complete system drain. For the life of me I can't figure out what's going on. And also at some point today it decided to start running like crap. It idles and runs rough at any RPM, likes it's missing or breaking up all the time. You can feel it in the car almost like a light chugging. I disconnected the battery for awhile, but it made no difference. It may have started after I pulled off the intake tract to get at the water pump harness, and it popped a code for not having the MAF plugged in, but I cleared that code and with it back in and reading values from it, it still runs rough. On top of that I got another car dumped on me today that needed a power steering pump replaced and some other minor stuff, so the Caddy will wait. Not happy anymore.

Nope, too cold out to work on anything. And on top of everything else that needs my attention come spring, I popped a head gasket in my truck (LT1 swapped '94 S10 Blazer), so I'm currently sporting my grandma's pos late 90's buick.

Damn... I always forget about how the winter affects the rest of the country. I'm in Phoenix, it's a high of 83 today. Good luck, and I'll be checking for updates

Yeah, it's like 10 degrees right now. Had a couple warmer days over the weekend and played with my brother's vette ('96 LT4, procharged). It needed a new battery and has had charging issues, still has charging issues. It's gone thru a couple alternators, but battery was suspect. Next warm day I'll put another alt on it and see what it does. But the Caddy will definitely wait until spring before I dive back into that. I was disappointed to not have the Caddy running properly, as the work was finished and it initially ran perfectly, but then something went sideways and haven't had a chance to sort out what went wrong.

Is there the possibility that you’ve blown a head gasket completely seperate from the conversion.
Did you say it overheated when the pump fuse popped ?

Woah, I missed this reply. That's what I'm assuming, because as soon as it warms up a little, it starts pumping white smoke out the exhaust. It looks like a fog machine. And it's clearly losing coolant when I run it. So for the past year it's sat except when I need to move it around or something. So I make sure the battery is charged, run it around the block to clear up the brakes and blow out the cobwebs, and then park at again. The plan was to tackle that over the winter since I've got my garage back, but other stuff happened. I'm in the midst of doing the truck (which also popped a head gasket) and I'm not sure right now when I'll get back to the Caddy. Possibly in the spring, possibly later in the year if I decide to save up and get a block for it.
