OK, so seeing as im drawing unemployment but looking for a job daily, i needed something to help pass the time.. in lieu of that i decided to fix up a couple of cars i own outside of my RMW that have just been sitting.. one being a junker 88 civic 4 door i used to DD, the other being a 99 escort ZX2 with a semi-toothless timing belt my fiancee' used to drive.. BUT while at the pick and pull today collecting parts, i spotted the B-body collection they had and found 2 b-bodies that still had rear ends... 1 being a 92-93 caprice, the other being a Olds custom cruiser.. SO then i got the bright idea to get the codes to maybe find a lower gear posi-rear for my 2.56 non towing LT1 95 RMW.. and these are what i found:

Caprice: GM8
Olds: GU2 G67

soo, if either of these is a good find for the price.. i think 100 bucks or less, ill be sure to scoop one up! any info is greatly appreciated!

Neither of these would be worth your time or money to swap. Look for ' '91-3 Roadmaster wagon (or some Caprice wagons) with a GU5 [3.23] and maybe even a G80 [positraction].

but look around for some chevy. who knows u might catch a eaton 3.73 posi gear installed. i dont know how to find out if it has it or not but maybe if you look around the cover and see new silicone or gasket this would tell u something been going on in there. if it's rusted to **** then i doubt it.

to check if it is a limited slip you can simply rotate one wheel/brake drum and if the other wheel turns in the same direction it is a limited slip diff. Won't give you gear ratio but if tag is off rear end at least you can confirm if it is limited slip
