Instead of replacing the entire top end, why not look into just a new cam? One that generates the correct dynamic compression and has a good amount of overlap to keep the horsepower up higher in the rpm band...
Which one, made multiple passes on multiple days. Did your's?
Let's start with details like full capped up exhaust to the bumper on the best 11.56 run, swaybars, bumpers, AC, ABS all completely intact. Caprice alloys on front wrapped in Kelley Safaris.
Cam is under 230degrees, same one Pat is using, and the same 200cc heads he has.
3800 Edge 4.10s, 28" ET Drags
With a 150mile drive EACH way I can't be pulling safety equipment like bumpers, and pulling stuff like exhaust is way too much work at the track.
Before you go any further with your accusations ask yourself what would Pat's car run if you left a few hundred pounds in it???
I don't get why you're so defensive, but forget that and let's try to remain objective.
Why don't we compare our combo's right here. Mine is listed on the TopEt page, but I don't see yours. I think it would be best to put aside the 150 miles each way and how much work it is to pull stuff. Just spell out your exact runs (or best one) and the pertinent details such as weight, full time slip, race trim, weather, etc. Try and stick to the facts that matter. I have no intention of demeaning you or criticizing your combo. It sounds like you've improved quite a bit since the last time I saw you run. Hence my reason for asking what you've done different.
because Dwayne doesn't know how to interact with the human species. He is rude, and ultra-defensive. I've really never seen anything like it, it's almost comical sometimes.
He can't have a normal conversation without trying to insult someone or push his favorite setup.
He replaced Lloyd's heads/intake/cam with AI's heads, cam and an as cast intake after he found a LOT of substantial problems with Lloyd's parts. It was a REPAIR. Point being he could have spent LESS and gone faster had he done it right the first time rather than the second.
Yeah Stony and I exchanged emails, he made some cam suggestions (as did Pat Gish and few other friends) back in winter 2008-2009.
I decided I didn't want to mess with something that purrs like a kitten and is dead balls reliable. So I went taller (28") in the back to get more bite and went from 3.73's to 4.10 and went back to my tried and true Edge 3200.
My buddy has a relatively stock Impala and he drove the Flambe the other day and he was freaking out how responsive it was PLUS he couldn't believe it had a 3200 stall in it.
My car 60 fts like a beast but as you can imagine with that cam it leaves something on the table at the big end of the track.
I am really spooked on going into the motor after some bad experiences in the past.
Resort to all the name calling you want stone. I'm not the one that turned out to be a dishonest piece of crap. For other inquirying minds, that is why I do not respect you. Your username is appropriate. My respect for you is about as much as I have for a... stone. Stone, you are a legend in your own mind and your big ego isn't helping you any.
I brought this thread back to life (after viewing it by chance) because you misled others with your inaccurate opinions. I see no problem whatsoever making the corrections I feel appropriate. That is what this forum is/should be about. The exchange of ACCURATE info. The fact that you were the one responsible, sure did not detour me any.
I think at the end of the day neither of you two guys bring much to the table. Neither has any real life experience with that which you both pretend to know so much about. It's a little frustrating for those of us in the field actually "doing", listening to you's "speculating" from your desktop dyno or wherever else it is you get your hypothetical information you deliver here. When I, and some others, come on and say something is good or something works, it's because I/we can prove it. At the end of the day, what people say about their own cars and stadegies and the ET page pretty much speaks for itself.
Agree! Actually, without the error, the more simple word I probably would have/could have used would have been discouraged. I really wasn't 'detoured' was I. ... just still irritated. Probably will be for a long time to come.
And no, didn't go 'head hunting for any such posts as one ya-hoo insinuated. Finding it was a result of the systematic method of viewing threads on forums that I subscribe to, that led me to that thread.
There are those with class that post according and there are those that couldn't recognize it if it ran over them. BTW, is it the cap that is crooked, or is it just the head? Just so you know, with the amount of material (previous remark notwithstanding) I could legitimately and accurately use on you in regards to your posts, I'm being really easy on you. cwm2
As previously noted, having this battle of wits with an unarmed individual does not inspire me.
"You may go now..."
First let's rid this forum of the vulgar and classless variety and THEN move on from there. But you know what, then we really wouldn't need to rid this forum of any others, would we? IOW, Replace or remove the horse and you need not be concerned of the response of the cart.
EDIT: As for KW, yes, three peas will still fit in a pod.

Am I to assume this is aimed at me and Bill? I can't read your mind.
I think I know what has worked for me, and I can evaluate the results others have posted here and at the TopET Page, yours included. Based on all that, I still contend that there is little difference performance wise between AI and LE with respect to the heads. However, I am starting to see clear evidence that the AI cam is working better, delivering more of the good stuff, i.e. tq. HP is for bragging, Tq is for winning. It would appear that Pat (and others like yourself) will continue to win based on the results!
For the record, I believe that AI has a better approach to delivering a quality top end than Lloyd. They provide the complete package, heads, cam, springs, valves, retainers, guides, etc. Lloyd directs you (or so he did when I got my setup 5 years ago), and leaves too much to chance. I never, let me repeat, NEVER had a single valve train related issue with my LE2 setup. I bought good parts, and had them put together by a competent engine builder rather than assembling the parts myself. There is a lot to valve train setup that if not spec'd and built properly can lead to problems, and in my view it happens mostly with Lloyd's customers than to AI. Lloyd is a porter, and outsources much of what AI does in house. Therefore, they get better control over qulity, and that definitely counts for something.
For a person that has no clue WHATSOEVER in regards to my time or schedule, you could not possibly be that braindead to respond with that post. Hmmm, guess I was wrong. ;(

But I do know that with hte time you spend in the Misk, you could've......should've.......'found' this thread in about 5 minutes. Unless your system is as stupid as your Misk rantings cwm3 .
And as for someone being braindead.......the texture of your rantings speak for your state of mind cwm2.
