I have a 96 impala and i noticed over the past 2 weeks of power loss. Today i really noticed something is not right. I can't even spin the wheels or do a burn out. Normal driving seems okay,but when i floor it engine revs but the car does not launch.Engine sounds like its clogged too.any ideas will be welcome. You can even call me at 251-656-2146 before i just decide to let her go.I love the car but i cant keep dumping money on her.

Check the cats. They unbolt, and depending on how rusty the bolts are, you could pull and check in an afternoon. Other than that, I'd start with fuel pressure tests.

Will something be there? unbolt at manifold?

A clogged or melted catalytic converter.

If the vacuum is under 21 inches - do a MotorVac....

It will also clean the cats...

something is clogged

I read alot of post on the site and looked all over the engine. I started the car and checked the exhuast in the rear and the left side was very weak.I hope that it will be the cat.I will see the muffler shop in the morning and will post findings asap. Oh has anyone heard of drilling a holes in the cats if they are clogged?
