Im going to buy my 1st 9c1 this saturday *hopefully if the testdrive pans out*

but its a stock 9c1 and I hate how high it sits,

from what I read you all say the Hotchkis springs are the way to go.

My question is will I have any issues with the tires rubbing the fender in turns or anything?

Im worried about this because my friends lowered s10 kept the stock rims/tires and now his fenders are all bent out from the tires rubbing em.

TIA

I run the Hotchkis springs, stock 17x8.5" wheels with stock 255/50 rubber. Doesn't come close to the fender, sometimes the inside wall if the tire will rub on the sway bar when it's all the way to lock. But the only way I know this is because the sway bar has a shinny spot on it. So you don't notice it.

BUT, I'm not sure what size tires you will be running, but if you go with stock SS 17s and tires you will be fine. Anybody out there with a 9C1, and stock 15s with Hotchkis out there that can chime in?

For now itll keep the stock wheel/tires just gonna lower it

Later on after I put money into the motor Ill either get some custom rims or some impy rims with stock tire size.

Same here, 2" drop up front, 3" drop out back, and I'm on 275/45/17s all the way around. No rubbing even in hard cornering with 5 passengers, but I'm not running Hotchkis, I'm running DJM lowered springs and the stiffer 1104/0929 bilstein shocks.

My springs are real low, I had 5" of drop from stock. Nothing rubs really, I never heard it rub. I even had 4 people in the car total and everything was great.

This gives me some ideas- odn't the Hotchkiss springs sit about 3/4" lower than the Impala SS? Hey you guys with the 3" rear and 2" front drops- sounds radiscal, did you need drop spindles to go with that?

On an Impala if you want anything even remotely drivable with that much drop up front, you'd need the dropped spindles. On a Caprice that amount can be done no problem.

My '95 SS is just about the lowest you can go and still be barely drivable with just springs. It sits at 24 1/8" from the floor to the fender trim. A stock SS is roughly 27 3/4". I had to do some frame trimming to get it as low as it is while still being able to driven. It has very very little suspension travel let in it, making for a very harsh ride. (Click here for Photo)

Wow- that's reeeeallly low!! I just saw what you guys have donw because I'm kinda kickin' ideas around in my head as to getting a 9C1 driver and dropping it some. But really- I find the Impala SS just about as low as I would wanna go, as even that I've rubbed some bumps and things. But I love being down there because you can throw it into a turn with confidence- but then I guess anything is better than a 4x4 truck.. ;)

I have a 93 caprice, and plan on getting the hotchkis springs, but I also plan on getting 20s later. So with the hotchkis,20s set up,will the springs be to low to get 20s with out rubbing or bottoming out.

You have to worry more about scraping and dragging than rubbing. If you lower a 9C1 2 inches from stock height you will drag your exhaust tips going onto steep driveways and you will drag a little frame over big bumps. Any lower than that and it's going to be a headache IMO. I lowered mine 2 inches and I don't mind the occasional scrape.

so you're saying its best that I go with the impala springs then the hotchkis. I keep hearing how good these springs are, why would I have to worry about dragging, or scrapping. I see those on here that has the impalas with hotchkis and 20 and some without 20s not talking about how their cars dragging and scrapping, so why would my caprice do that if it sits higher then an impala.

95% of the time you won't have a problem dragging exhaust/frame with the Hotchkis springs. A 9C1 with a 2" drop from its stock height should very rarely ever have a problem dragging, as it only lowers the car to roughly 1" below the stock Impala height.

Both of the Impalas on which I have the Intrax springs, which have more of a drop than the Hotchkis, only drag the Dynomax exhaust tips and/or front air dam on driveway aprons that have decently steep inclines.
