Ive been considering doing a head and cam swap on my lt1 rms, what i want to know is do i have to get the ecm/pcm reprogrammed to accept the bigger cam lift which will result in a different idle or will the computer compensate for the changes automatically ?

The computers are not self learning. You have to reprogram it, or have it reprogramed.

Ditto. It's required in the least to actually get the benefit of the cam swap, but also depending on the cam you choose, maybe prevent damage.

Be sure to look into new valve springs when/if you do a cam. Stock springs are marginal, at best, and will make a new, higher-revving cam fall flat.
