Does David Koldos still bore out OE throttlle bodies?
Think Matt Blum stopped doing this back in 2013?

IDK, its been over 20 years since David did mine, IMHO best to do a stock TB if going larger vs aftermarket to avoid the whole IAC fiasco crap with the aftermarket ones
Yeah I had a BBK 52 that was being a pain, I got ahold of a stock one now

I did email David back in early November from an address I found on the interwebs, but haven't heard back so I'm assuming he doesn't do this anymore.
Any other places you know of?

I've had a ASM Mono-blade for about 8 years with no problems. Something to consider.......

Best of luck with whatever you do!

I did email Lloyd Elliot, here was his response:

"
The TB butterfly size is the restriction.

Porting the stock TB is really useless.

Lloyd "

It just raises more questions for me. Here is my problem, I have idling issues with the BBK, I've read up on drilling the bypass hole into it, but didn't really want to do that to a $300 part. From previous threads it seemed porting the stock one was all the rage back in the day, I don't want it to be a restriction for my setup if I just throw the stock one on to the intake.
So with all that being said, I'll just use the stock one as is and take the car to a tuner to get it worked out. Thanks everyone

I take it he is thinking you just want to clean up the entry as opposed to boring the body and making new blades

OP

I think the word "porting" that is often associated with a "larger" TB is misleading. 52 or 58 TB have larger butterfly and thus larger "opening".

Unless you make over 400 hp, a larger TB isn't needed and won't give you much more power and sadly the drivability issues with aftermarket TB's "out of the box" are not worth it.

FWIW when I went 383 using my stock "bored" TB (52) I did need to drill out the stock 1/8" IAC hole to 11/64. Ed Wright advised me on this but said take baby steps and log IAC counts at each time you go 1/64" larger. My car is a T56 so I don't have the tuning issues associated with automatic cars using larger TB's relative to adjusting line pressure

One of the early mods was to get the "air foil" for stock TB which did, supposedly, give better air flow into it.

If you can find one, a ASM 54mm TB supposedly had a stock type IAC passage. I assume they are extinct now but maybe somewhere one on ebay
