Just received my sample from the fab shop. It needs a couple tweaks but I will get it back to the shop and should have finished units ready to ship in two weeks. These are made of 18gauge steel and will be sold in either bare steel or satin black. Cost is $75 a pair plus shipping for either bare or painted. I'm sorry but I can't do custom colors unless I can buy it in a spray can. Then the price would go up accordingly.

Below is a pic of the sample I received today and the others are of the two I made from 20 gauge steel and cut with tin snips. I just wanted to see if I could make them and ended up with overwhelming requests to produce them. I decided the 20 gauge and tin snips were not the way to go so I got with a local metal shop and I'm having these done up. All are laser cut from 18 gauge steel. Also, mine attach with a 10mm nut that holds the side marker light in place and a small screw on the other end. See pics. No brackets required.

Thank you. I couldn't afford to spend $100 + for these things so I just tried to make my own. They turned out so well I was swamped with guys wanting a set of their own. Order up and help pay off the metal shop!:D

Hmmm... Wonder if these would fit under my glasstek hood. Had a set made of fiberglass but when I switched from stock hood to glass cowl hood they hit.

Your point?
Knowing that they both fit in the same place, let's just say that 'the similarity is a coincidence'. Rather like agreeing to disagree. And let it go at that.

I'm still not clear on your point but if you hold a patent on these please let me know and I will cease production. I printed the same set of plans and found the fit to be not so great. Then I realized there was no way to mount them so I ended up starting over. Not to mention there have been several people make these things over the years. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel here nor am I wanting step on anyone's toes. Just trying to offer something back to the forum and make a couple bucks for my time.

Did you make some? Did you offer to make some, cheaper than what the original covers were, by about 100 bucks? No? You didn't? Really??? I wasn't making my own, pretty damn inconvienent for most to try, and had gotten very tired of looking around for a set.

Go dick up someone elses thread, albeit while staying within forum rules, which you really aren't doing here. On top of it all, he has a vendor tag.

I personally thank you for taking the time to create a nice product for someone like me, who had no time or way of creating my own. All while staying well within my budget.

I agree and applaud the OP for making and offering these. I don't need a set as I bought some from StreetTendz years ago. But if I did need some, I would appreciate someone taking the time to use a termplate, that is posted for the public to use anyway, to offer these to others that dont want to bother fabbing this up. Seems like a Win/Win to me.

This is very similar to the 6.5" speaker templates that are listed in a few places here. The template is there for public consumption and I could have easily made up my own using the dimensions in the template. But when I saw someone selling them for what I was willing to pay as opposed to the amount of time to make myself, I just bought them.

Gentlemen,

Bob Shirley was making these a long time ago.

His last run was in 2005 (and then he stopped making them).

So.....Fooser Guy.....where did you get your idea from?

I applaud that GN 1220 has taken on this task and has also offered them for sale.

Good luck to you Sir.

Now........

Onward and upward.

Thanks guys, not sure what the issue is. Anyway, I took the revised sample back to the shop yesterday and met with the engineer who is handling the project and he said they will make the changes I noted, send me an e-mail with a pic and await my ok to go ahead with production. Thanks for the support and for your patience. This has taken a little longer than I had hoped as it has turned into a bigger project than I was needing right now.:D
