were you able to connect the audio controls on the monte steering wheel?

But of course, I have a pioneer head unit which has a wired control input, Pac adapter SWI-PS, pain in the a$$ to program, just by you have to change the settings fast or it doesn't learn them, and works like a champ ever since day one. I had a factory unit in my car for awhile wired to the steering wheel and worked perfect as well.
305classic... few questions cuz...

1. what year is your monte wheel from?
2. was it a direct fit like the one I did from a 97?
3. do you have the volume controls to work on your radio?

I actually don't know the year, but yes it was a direct fit with no customization but there is this yellow peice with airbag wires and wires for the radio controls that you have to get also, I think it's called a clock wheel, but even the airbag is the same wireing as the B-bodys. And I don't have the controls working because like 94mi9c1 was saying you need the PAC adaptor which I believe is a different model number that I need because mine is alpine and his is Pioneer. also if you wanted the wheel to work with your radio, I believe you have to get the radio from the car you remove the wheel from because there is a green signal wire that isn't on the b-body radio wire harness.

Yeah it is the clock spring actually and you will need the harness that runs through the column, I just bought the whole column from the Monte I ripped mine from for 25 bucks, but I usually get pretty good deals at the yard here in town.
As far as the factory radio, if you add the wire to the connector location, it works just fine on an Imp radio, that is what I did with mine.
305- you need an SWI-JACK for yours with the Alpine. http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/pacswi-jackv1newversionofswi-jack.aspx

Is the radio in the Monte Carlo a direct swap for the Caprice/Impala radio?
Yes they are the same units
if you have an aftermarket radio in it you can still get the controls on the steering wheel to control your radio...

i have an alpine. i would have to buy a pac box... it retails for $100 but obviously you can get them shipped to your house from ebay for around $35-40.

i will get back to you on the actual model name.. i am on my blackberry and don't have the link saved.

now the search is on for me to get a 00-02 monte steering wheel. I WANT THIS MOD DONE BAD!!!

How hard was it to dye your wheel? Did you do it yourself? If so what did you use? it looks good
Did these only come in black and the light grey. I am looking for a darker grey colored wheel. I may have have one dyed
i don't know much about working on cars, but how hard is it to swap out steering wheels? any tools or parts i am gonna need to do this??
RJ to pull the wheel you are going to need a steering wheel puller, it makes it a helluva a lot easier than muscling it off and breaking your nose :) Pretty easy, pull the airbag, which is Torx screws facing the cluster, the bag comes out and unplugs, remove clock spring it just pulls off, then the big nut holding the wheel, setup puller and crank down, it comes right off.
