this was an actual police car. I can't get the kind of heat inside the car that i desire. Thermostat diffrent on a cop car, or is it a heater core problem? any other suggestions welcome thanx

I would guess that the heater core is stopped up. The cheapest fix is to try back-flushing the heater core by taking the heater hoses loose and using a low pressure garden hose to flush it. GM put pellets in the cooling system-not sure what they were supposed to do, but they will stop up that heater core. The pellets were used with the Dexcool coolant and have posed a problem in my 96 SS.

Since you likely have high miles, do not use a harsh flushing agent or you will be replacing the heater core. Just the garden hose flush should do it. Good luck!
