When I picked up my Civilian ride last year the dealership that bought it back from the 2nd owner had been using it as a courtesy vehicle. The car -wreaked- of cigarettes!
I first fabreezed the interior, and that only helped a little. I then got some brand-X ground coffee, and put some down on several paper plates throughout the car, and let it sit over the weekend.
The smell was gone in just a few days.
Since that time, I also removed the carpet, and sprayed it down with Shout! laundry helper, and let sit over night. I then sprayed it with a steam jenny, and let dry in the afternoon sun one weekend.
I'd try the coffee grounds, and then also try using some 'Tough Stuff' spray and scrubbing the carpets & upholstery.
cool thanks guys looks like im going to grocery shopping Baking Soda And Beer. i just found out meguiars has a odor eliminator but cant find it no where around my parts
I would clean the interior, first. Headliner down to carpets. Spray solution of about 1/2 "409" or other cleaner in water on headliner, make it foam up w/ a soft bristle brush, then CAREFULLY vacuum off. same w/ carpet. Seats w/ leather cleaner. Interior panels w/ "409".
Then leave Baking soda, and/or white vinaugar (SP) in closed cars for a few days.
NOTE White vinauger is the solvent for coffe stains.
Smells in the interior may be the least of your problems with this car. I dont know if "found" means you already purchased her or if you are just thinking about it. You need to go over this entire car in detail, 2 years in a barn can do mega damage (mostly stuff you cant see).
I will wager that the car is or has been home to more than a few varying degree of rodents (and their destruction). If its a killer cant walk away deal then by all means, but think this one through clearly.
For the interior odor follow these four easy steps to fix:
Step One: - Open driver's side window a couple inches.
Step Two: - Carefully place garden hose into opening.
Step Three: - Turn on hose full blast, wait for overflow.
Step Four: - Replace entire interior, Smell gone.
Seriously man, go get some of this from the Home Depot, good stuff.
