Need Header help !?

I need a set of headers to complete my 383 so I can finally install it ! The Pomona Auto Swap meet is this weekend, one of the biggest around... What should I look for ? Don't want to spend a ton of dough ($450 +) on headers ? I would like to keep it smog legal, but if I can't, then I'll deal with that as long as they are good headers with minimal fitment issues. If long tubes are recommended, what do I put in place of the cats ? Help me out guys ...

you dont wanna spend a ton of money? the flowtech afterburners are probably your best option. they are gonna require some work but there are a few options available from clear image for things like cats, etc.

Interested ....So what type of work will they require ?
You are not going to have it ready for the weekend. ;) Yu are better off to put the stock manifolds on, and read up on the long tube header options. "Cheap", and "no fitment issues" don't go together.

I'm not installing the motor by this weekend, I'm simply trying to find the right setup / options before I go to the Swap meet on Sunday and possibly spend more than I should OR get something I shouldn't . If I had the right direction for the right parts, I will purchase them right now and hopefully install all within the next few weeks.
dammit! yet again, i'm gonna miss it, good luck bro
doubt you will find any header at Pomona for your B-body.

www.clearimageautomotive.com arguable makes the best header specific to our B-bodys

not smog legal....

edelbrock shorty headers are...can buy them summit, jegs, etc....don't perform as well as mids or long tubes
Actually, being in Cali, his only option for a street car to remain smog legal is with shorties.
Would like more than anything right now to get a set of Tri-y's !! But, can't afford the steep price tag on them right now ! I do have a hook up on smog, so if I went the mid length or longtube route, I just need someone to point me in the right direction as far as a parts list on what to get ?
The Tri Y's come with most everything you need. If you go with the Afterburners (my recommendation) the sticky thread you posted in about them has ALL the required parts listed. Most of the Shorties come with the required parts and most hook directly to the stock exhaust.

A very good source of info is of course the sticky thread at the top of this section titled Header/Catback info. In that sticky you will find a great thread with several cheap long tube options and the parts required to install them. It contains pretty much every header that fits these particular B Bodies and their parts.
OK, so if I get the AfterBurner Headers . what else will I need ? Will I be able to retain cats somehow ? If not, what do I need in place of them ?
Come on man, I told you where to look to get ALL the info you asked about.

You've even posted in the thread.

There is also this thread about all the headers known to fit these cars which is simple to see when you enter the exhaust section.

In that thread you will find the thread about cheap headers and it includes links to the required parts. Many of which are available in the performance parts section of any major parts store chain.

Thanks for the follow up, I just wanna make sure I do this right the first time, as I can't afford to do it again. With the help and knowledge from forum members such as yourself, I can possibly avoid a costly screw up, nothing wrong with asking twice, checking twice, and doing the purchasing and job ONCE. I have just returned from the Pomona Swap Meet, found Doug's Headers going for $695 !! I have decided to go with the After Burners and piece things together. If anyone has the AB's installed, please let me know any useful information needed as far as parts and installation. Thanks.
I have the ABs installed and have a bunch of pics in the thread I posted and plenty more on my hard drive.

Any way you can send parts needed pics to me ? [email protected]
